Insider here. The papers have been signed, the ETFs have the green light. The news will go public tomorrow but trading of the ETFs won't happen till next week.

Obviously, a LARPer thread by OP, but nonetheless an ETF for BTC will change everything. Don't know how long it will take if/after the ETF is approved, but it will permanently kill BTC's volatility. This is the only absolute known outcome if an ETF is approved. Yeah, BTC will always appreciate in value over time, but it will become boring like gold. People are expecting a huge rise or drop when it's approved. Neither will happen & BTC'ers will be confused. Similar to the stock market, stocks don't react to things like job reports & other macro events like they have in the past. Same will happen to BTC & things like the halving or other things similar will not effect it like it has in the past.

It's obvious that you have no clue what you're talking about. You're increasing the demand without increasing the supply, how do you expect this not to change the price, and why would it stop the halving having an effect? That's retarded.

I still can't believe the government is willing to enable institutional gamers to game with bitcoin seeing that they don't have the means to stop, curb, slow or gatekeep others from buying or selling crypto when times are rough (for the government). It sounds more likely to me they don't even understand that bitcoin supply is on an algo, and can't be printed like FedBucks(tm).

Who says the ETF has to be backed with BTC? It's just paper, same as gold.

>we promise this synthetic will track the price of your gay little illiquid stock- I mean, uh, cryptocurrency
>Redeem it? Sure! Here's your $45,000!
Actual on-chain BTC has nothing to do with the ETF.
