I live in Central Europe, Austria

"Set for life" might have been the wrong phrase to use, the $665k/20 = $33.25k (~€30k) would need to be per year and after taxes and after social insurance.

currently I make
€28k/year
€26k after taxes
€22k after compulsory social insurance
€10k after mortgage payments
~€4k after operating costs of my flat (canal, heating, electricity, internet etc)
~€1-2k after food

If I made €30k/year instead of just €22k, I could manage my life comfortably, unless my apartment block gets destroyed by a disaster.
