no junior positions either, like I know some of the basics of data engineering and ETL/ELT with SQL and NoSQL DBs, and some of the basics of AWS cloud based data pipelines but more specialised stuff like managing data migrations from on prem to cloud and stuff is a bit much. The job postings for most "junior" positions I'm seeing are asking for 2-3 years of prior experience and "a proven track record of excellence delivering and maintaining data connectivity and quality".

I'm trying to career change, so my most recent job is still in marketing. I've been working on building data analytics and data science skills for the last 2.5 years though, and in my last position I did a lot of data Viz in the last 6 months. I've been trying to leverage that as experience but motherfuckers are asking for specialized skills like financial analytics and other stuff. I'm trying to build out my portfolio with projects that display those kinds of skills but finding up to date and publicly available data sets for finance or credit risk stuff has been difficult so far.
