Do you have all your bills on auto-pay, including your credit cards and rent? I'm not quite there yet, but this is sort of an intangible goal of mine. I think it would give me a lot of peace to literally not have to think about money.

Yes. Makes budgeting much easier too.

Yes. Next level is having an account dedicated to only autopay and a separate account for "hot" spending like buying gas and groceries.

No. Once I hit eight figures (funnily enough, the same month I ditched LINK for being a meme) I take one day a year to pay 13 months worth for each bill I have. That puts me in credit that they draw down on and means I only have to deal with their shit once a year

Aren't you worried about overdrawing your account? My pay comes in twice a month, and my bill due dates are scattered throughout the month so an overdraft would be likely.

>Do you have all your bills on auto-pay,
20 years ago, when my dad started having minor memory issues, I put all his bills on auto pay. It worked so well I did autopay for my self.

I never have problems - it's works prefectly.

I write one check a month, the rent, because my landlord is an incredible asshole.

Its called budgeting, our pay comes in ONCE a month at the start of the month, some bills only at the end

>> No.57150439

>>57149951
Why would that make an overdraw likelier? Either your money is enough for all bills or its not, you should know all bills coming in for the month and how much they are and able to plan accordingly

>> No.57150452

knowing I had to pay all bills each month by myself would just give me tendencies to try and skip one

>> No.57150691

well your CC might post on the twentieth but you don't get paid until the thirtieth. In this case you would overdraft despite having enough income to cover your monthly expenses

I pay some things automatically, but I pay credit cards manually and also rent because they are the biggest expenses and so are the likeliest to cause an overdraft

>overdraft
You know how they say have 6mo of expenses in savings? Before you get there you shoot for 1mo. When you reach that, you stop using your overdraft. That drops your expenses making it easier to hit the 2mo target. Hustle, bro; older you will thank you

In that case you didn't have enough money. Just save up a safety cushion. You're budget should be leaving money aside at the end of every pay cycle to put towards more savings or investing anyway.
I have one card in my wallet, every week it gets $x automatically put on it, a small percentage of my pay. I never spend that much in a week. The rest just goes into other accounts automatically.
I usually dump all spare money into crypto now as I see no use holding too much fiat.

Yes, except for rent/utilities/groceries because I just give my wife half every month after she calculates what we owe. Idk anon, it doesn't feel like very much once you're there. I would assume that I'm financially better off than 80% of people my age and I still feel like I won't have a chance of owning a home. Cool, I don't worry about money and I have a few toys. The notion that I will have to toil to achieve home ownership (something that was just an expectation a generation ago) makes me feel 1 step above an indentured servant.

I am more than comfortable, but the trajectory of my life in our brave new world makes me feel so hopeless that I just want to give up. When my divorced, irresponsible mom owns a home and I don't, I just feel like ending it.

I use my bank to set up auto payments for the bills that are always the same price. Otherwise I still send a payment manually from my bank for the bills that vary month to month.
