My dad gave me this cool 1883 Kingdom of Hawaii quarter for Christmas, definitely made me happy. Since I learned about Hawaiian silver coins as a kid I've always wanted some, but also at that same time I learned about the prevalence of fakes so I never trusted the ones I came across. He picked it up from a knowledgeable dealer so it's entirely legit, but now I gotta collect the other denominations!

Don't care. My stock portfolio is also at all time highs. I'd rather buy and hold gold for 10 years than roll some gains into a 10 year treasury. More tax efficient and likely outperforms too.
Besides, momentum can be a good thing. I wouldn't be surprised if gold is trading at 3k in 2 years.

And today I went with dad to his favorite LCS and bought these for $14.80 total from their melt-price scrap coin bin, after dad harvested a rather larger pile of 0% premium coins. The 1929 standing liberty is perfectly decent but they often cull ones like that for some reason. I'm accumulating severely underweight dimes to pay Jewish FWTDHWs after SHTF so figured I'd grab the barbers, and I'll never turn down Seated silvers at melt price ($1.59 at its weight) so although worn I have a based poorfag friend who'd love an 1877 Carson City to keep his slick 1877 Philly dime company. The proprietors also fed dad and I some cocktail shrimp and fresh potato doughnuts while we were browsing, it's a f'ing awesome shop.

>> No.57109582

Well it's more about the total quantity than specifically purchasing one single bar. Larger purchases seem to pay less premium to spot though.
And I don't really want to just buy an ETF. What would you recommend instead?

1 ounce is 1 ounce. Not like it'll ever become less gold. That's the benefit of buying gold outright over using an ETF.
The value of the dollar is arbitrary, but with a target of 2% inflation, population growth on top, and money supply growing even faster than those factors, I see no reason for long term concern.

Morning slurp : 24.5g sestertius of Marc Aurelius, the "Primi Decennales" version. Seller's pics are crap, i'll repost it in better quality once it arrive home. Got it for 20 bux after haggling a bit with the seller. Idk if it's a good deal since it's my first sestertius and prices are all over the places, but the condition looked nice enough so i thought it shouldn't be too bad of a deal (tho the obverse may not be that beautiful, but it's hard to tell with the out of focus pics).

This World War 1 poster translates to "For France, Pour Your Gold." Government propaganda telling French citizens to donate their gold Francs to the government for the war effort. The same french government that sent millions of french youth to get slaughtered and dehumanized in the most unimaginable and disturbingly barbaric manner that mankind had ever seen. And it was all for what? France turned into the cesspool of Europe filled with muslims and third world migrants with no skills. Also read Poilu if you haven't. Great book about the front lines of WW1. Storm of Steel (uncucked 1929 version) is another good read.

I cannot help but think about all of the millions of lives wasted, souls stolen and the blood harvest that the elites perpetrated in WW1 and WW2 on the european people. There certainly was a collective effort to murder as many as possible. It is evident from the soldier perspectives. All for nationalist pride, yet now those nations are filled with non-European foreigners and are essentially welfare leeches. The more you read the more you learn. It's just the schizos on here that went off the deep end on muh PMs.
Silver and gold are extremely valuable and have proven their value historically and are likely being price manipulated.
They have then taken this price manipulation to the extreme thinking that base metals like copper and aluminum are going to have value in the collapse.

Copper is valued based on dollars per POUND.
You would need a fuck ton of pennies for it to be remotely worth it. And you would have better returns cashing your pennies in for silver or gold.

Lol, not a bad policy but to my knowledge there isn't really enough of a market for those medieval Indian silvers to justify the efforts of forgers. I've read that medieval silver coins, sometimes even ancient ones from the first few centuries AD have been circulated and passed down in families in more rural parts of India for centuries so they're pretty common (for 1000+ year old coins). Would be surreal to visit a backwater Pajeet hamlet and see people transacting with 1,500 year old silver coins in the village market.

If you have not received a tracking number yet do not panic you have not been missed. The mint is on extended holiday so the remaining gilded we were expecting had not been able to ship in time. Apologies for not communicating this sooner and initially stating everyone should have them by Christmas.
They're back in the office on the 2nd and should have them shipped very shortly after.
For leftover Crusader numbers there are about 15 of each left over that will eventually be available. At the moment ebay will likely be your best bet

Thank you all for posting your pictures. It helps to realize how far this has come.

What does this even mean? It is far more likely that collector premiums will vanish with hard times than straight bullion losing its value. Some people (like me) enjoy more expensive coins for historic and aesthetic reasons. But I don't suffer from the delusion that the premiums I pay will somehow survive an economic storm better than straight bullion value. I see no reason to think that would be true. I think the elite in America, if given the chance, will squeeze our balls for as long as they can.

If you think about what the american currency has become, it is essentially nothing more than lent out "demand units" that people toil away endlessly for and stash away in leveraged products such as houses, stocks bonds and PMs. They will try to stew us in deflation for an uncomfortable amount of time to pull that value out of everything before letting it rip IMO,
Medical industry is a good model for this. It is purposeful expensive to steal back all of the people's money and also acts as a threat to keep people paying the ponzi and also working until Medicare can take over. These are literal financial cage-bars you can see all over the American people.
We better start believing that much of the value was siphoned out long ago but these financial institutions are going to keep trying to suck us dry long after we've all nut.

Makes silver look like such a good deal in comparison.
I'd love to get some AGEs at those prices though. Could you imagine? I remember back when gold was under $1000 and had like 5+ ounces. What a time to be alive.

Because it is, Silver is the investment opportunity of the century. I love Gold but it doesn't have a potential x50 - x100 ROI like Silver does.

That's why my ratio is so skewed.
I need more gold, but it hurts so much compared to silver (which took a decent bump itself)

About the picture, I've recently retrieved my book about old coinage from an obscure corner of my bookshelf and checked the price of "trofa" (no idea how to translate it), that is, the amount of food one adult man needs to survive a day on.
In the book it was calculated as the price of 3 kg of grain and 1/2 kg of meat (1 kg = slightly over 2 pounds). In another old book I found out that you can get 70 kg of flour from 100 kg of grain, 3kg is therefore 2.1 kg of flour.
In my country, trofa calculated like so would cost 5 g of silver (1oz = 31.1g)
In medieval England, for comparison, it would cost 2,5g (13th century), 3g (14th), or 1g (15th) of silver. In the next three centuries, it cost about 2g.

Long story short, it seems that the supply of food has risen faster than the supply of non-prudish women. The Industrial Revolution and its consequences.

Also, I found this neat article about trofas, unfortunately in Polish.
