I've watched 40K+ turn into 12-13K. I'm in my early thirties and I make a decent living, don't have a tremendous amount of debt or anything and losing that money hasn't negatively affected my life outside of just like... what the fuck have I been doing? I could've really helped out my family with all that and instead it's just gone.

pretty much yes but who the fuck knows when its a good time to buy with the big indexes at or about to reach all time highs, it all depends on your outlook - if its gains in 1 year maybe not the best time right now, if its gains in 10 years then there is probably no better time than now
