Some time in 2012. I know I sold it for $10 to someone on localbitcoins back then, and felt like I was scamming the guy with monopoly money. I'm sure I got it around $5.

That guy is probably wealthy now. Ultra paranoid old goldbug dude that definitely buried his gold. He used an iPod instead of iPhone (back when the only difference was a SIM slot) because he didn't trust cellphones but still wanted a crypto wallet/email.

Right around $1000
Also bought ETH at $30 and Link at $0.15
Fast forward to today and only have $250k because I tried to play the shitcoin casino

$180. I used to laugh at the fools who bought the top at $1200. That was the first bullrun.
I'm less wealthy than you think

Won a couple btc on bustabit in 2016-2017. Lost it all right before the bullrun started

I got 21 ETH at $250 in 2020, then proceeded to lose it all to Celsius and mashinsky

>> No.57039232

i bought my first bitcoin in 2012. back in those heady days, in the 2014s, i had a 2016 state of mind. i wish i had bought earlier. i should have bought bitcoin but i never owned any, i've only ever had a bit of ethereum which i got back in 2014. sold early though. but yeah i've never bought or sold any crypto except that one time in 2011. should've bought more. too bad i don't have any

First bought at $2360
Then had a long buying break. Then bought at 19k again just a few months ago. I'm a rather inactive hodling watcher. Never traded BTC yet. Only alts.

Bought my first bit of BTC when it was $1500 in 2017. Mostly bought ETH during that time though.
Didn't start dollar cost averaging until this year. Would have easily made it by now if I was constantly DCAing, but there weren't any exchanges that offered it and I don't have the discipline to constantly transfer to exchanges and buy every week, especially during bear markets.
>>57039103
kek Celsius got me too, I put in 30k usd/btc/eth (now worth 45k) a few weeks before they shut down. Fucking Mashinsky, lying rat, by that time he already knew everything was fucked but he just lied and said it was all fine and I thought there was no way someone would just lie openly like that when his name is out there.
The day he shut down withdraws I immediately rebought all the btc/eth I lost, but it still stings, all I wanted was a comfy low risk passive income.

I sold 2 BTC for a gaming PC years ago so around $1000 I guess.

FYI

very few alts have utility or potential for usage. Most alts are like Pokémon cards with a small dollar value people trade w each other to get more BTC.

I never bought any.
I've been on 4chan for over 15 years and I still do not understand cypto.

He wanted it in his pocket, so the iPads were out, although I'm pretty sure he had one too. He didn't trust Android for some reason, pretty sure he was way into Apple stuff since the iMac era.

He preloaded his wallet addresses / qr codes in bitcoin-qt before we met up, and used blockchain.info to confirm the transactions on the spot. He was very interested in paper wallets as I recall.

There were webapps that acted as wallets. Blockchain.info had a wallet as I recall, and I think I used it as a hot wallet at some point. So you didn't need an Apple store app or whatever.

At a later deal he asked if I would send him funds to the following x addresses over some period of time (when he must have trusted me a lot, because I could have just never sent it). He was also very interested in "freshly mined" coins since they had no history; he was always asking people at the meetups if they knew any miners that would direct a block reward directly to him (a paper wallet address). He also asked for copies of the Blockchain, presumably so he could "catch up" his offline bitcoin-qt instance. Otherwise he'd go to libraries or coffee shops to sync it.

He was an odd and overly paranoid (or at least privacy focused) guy.

Things were different back then...

16k but I would have bought it at 2-3c if a house robbery didn’t happen, and sometime in between if I wasn’t such an asshole who didn’t want to lose. I’ll never buy it again though since it scammed me out of like 45k.

Back when it was something like 3$, used it for drugs. Friend joked that Bitcoin will be 1mil someday. And still we didn't bought any to hold.

Well, I'm sure I would've sold when it reached 1000$ and that would sting me a lot more. Or I would've spend it to some shitcoins and lose it all.

I first bought btc for under $10 and immediately spent it all on a bag of weed
