No. The Fed has repeatedly said they are NOT raising rates. People are bullish now because the market has been bullish. Retail investors (which exploded during covid, and since Robinhood really) don't care about the broader market, hell the people I know that 'trade' have no idea what they're doing, they don't know what the Fed even is, much less calculate things by %. They're retards literally gambling. That's money in the market, and it keeps the party going on the market, but the underlying real debt is exploding (they're all broke with maxed out credit cards, hence the gambling).

Too many have poor management incentives. Lots of fraud and abuse, the category seems to produce some of the most bankruptcies, and many others that survive a decade end up bought out after declines such that all long term holders suffer permanent loss. At least NEP doesn't seem to be classified as an MLP, so that's good.
In general I like shareholder rights. Even though I'll never have enough shares to matter, fair voting rights and open control means that activists have potential to step in and force change, which in turn forces management to care about something other than maximizing their own paycheck.
I can make an exception if its founder lead, and has a history of solid returns. Does NEP have insider alignment?

Regardless of my own feelings, it looks like it'll pump. Divvy cuts always pump once the boomers get flushed.

I understand your opinion.
I don't think its relevant to the investment opportunity in this case, but I get it.
From everything I've gathered its dividend returns are not threatened. Its dividend is in no danger of being cut, this entire thing was a massive overdramatic backlash from saying their guidance will be "slightly" lower than anticipated. They are also a sustainable energy company so the dreaded boomer turned on them because of market sentiment because "they're bad now" even though they make a fuckton of cash.
The chairman of the board is straight from NEE, along with many other top members from what I could find. They have a ton of their own savings invested in the company.

Total bullshit that it got dumped. Another example of the "PODD effect", there it was weightloss drugs will destroy type 1 diabetes, here it is "green energy bad now".

I kind of posted it above.
Most of the reason it sold off is based on attached information.
Remember the company is still growing fine, has a 12% dividend yield, and is perfectly healthy. You can analyze their financials.

There is something mentally ill when it comes to dividend investors and their response to anyone touching their precious dividend. Did the stock deserve to drop to $20 off this news? Are green energy stocks dead forever because the market says they're bad now?
Now that interest rates have peaked and will be going down, its clear. Now is the time to buy.

They were looking at some peppermint schnaps. I told them I just finished a bottle and it was too sweet. They grabbed that and then went over to some rum thing (it's like pumpkin spice with baylies essentially.) I'd never tried that so I got a bottle.
Fuck me it's even more sweet. I should have grabbed some high proof aristocrat and more peppermint schnaps.

bonds are confusing to understand. I think about it like buying a post-dated check.
>I’ll give you this $1 million check that you can’t cash until ten years from now. how much will you pay me for it right now?
>$900k.
so the buyer is getting basically 10% return on their money. then, if a third person offers to buy that $1mil check from that first buyer for $950k, that new person is getting way less return on their money (about 5%, a lower yield than the other guy who would’ve got 10% at the price he originally paid) and the other guy is selling a bond he spent $900k on for $950k and turning a profit, so the value or price of the bond went up, and the yield went down.
this is why all those banks got fucked when the fed raised interest rates. they owned all these bonds they bought for basically 0% interest (like paying $999k for a $1mil check) and then yields went up, so now they could only sell their bonds for $950k or whatever. they were bagholding trillions of dollars of government bonds.
