You should look at the volatility of the underlying asset before applying daily leverage. SP 500 can optimally take on 3x. SPY mean implied volatility over past 180 days is 14. QQQ can optimally run 2x leverage. It's mean IV is 18. The mean IV for SOXX is even higher than QQQ, at 26. The higher the volatility of the underyling asset, the less daily leverage you should use. I'd guess that the optimal daily leverage is between 1.5x to 2x leverage for semiconductors. USD is probably a safer long term hold. In fact USD has actually outperformed SOXL over the past 5 years.

>Not if we're DCAing, and all of us that aren't retired, are.
I don't want to get into a debate right now, but everyone who receives a paycheck can DCA into any strategy, and profit off the same sort of volatility. When something dips and then rebounds, dollars added in between will always be profitable. When something pumps and then dumps, the opposite is true.
Anyone DCAing during the entirety of 2021 spent the following year looking pretty dumb.

Essentially what you're saying is that you made some shit purchases, but you also made some decent ones. I would rather just make the decent purchases, personally.
Also DCA is not strictly about retirement. It's about portfolio size relative to income/savings rate. Those with a portfolio size below 1 years savings can more comfortably take on risk, knowing that in the worst case it'll only take a year to rebuild. If you have 10 years savings, the ability to DCA is 1/10th of that.

just in case anyone remembers me: I am anon who wanted to buy a house but the poorfag owners wanted some money when signing the "promise to sell" contract
I just found some mechanism with which they could easily assure me they would pay, but they rejected it.
the problem with this house it that the owners inherited it, they are poor and they hate one each other, so even if I agree to pay any money beforehand and everything was legal, written in the contract and shit, I would probably get $0 back (or less than what I paid) if the sale failed. they want me to give them something like 8% of the price to pay for debts.

it's a good price, but I'm not sure if I should risk anything. what would you guys do? you are a bunch of gamblers after all...

I ended up going to Walmart once, and was the only white dude in the entire store, though it was at like 10pm which is for some reason when a lot of browns go out shopping.

I've been using broken wing butterflies and playing direction. Usually for a $30 debit or less. If I'm wrong, I lose $30. If I'm right, I make money. I only lose when I'm right too fast which is what happened yesterday. I hate doing iron condors and verticals because they are too sensitive to price changes. The BWBs are a lot slower moving and doing it that was is the first time I've been consistently profitable.

Sure it dumped in value when oil went negative but that was a once in 20 year dip that reversed in less than 2 years.

I already offered to pay them half of the bills and they first rejected my offer but months later they agreed
the whole thing is very messy and lengthy to explain, but a few important details are that a realtor is acting as middleman, and they have to wait for a judge to authorize one of the heirs to be able to sell the whole thing, which will take months. if the latter wasn't a condition I'd buy it no problem, but the wait will kill me, and, yes, it might be a scam by one of the heirs. also, their lawyers are fucking lazy and retarded.
this is a good opportunity because of how well located it is, but the fear of being scammed and not being able to recover the money, or even having to go to court against the whole family has made me rethink all of this 100 times already. and I've been through this shit for 2 months already.
