i was reading "right where you are sitting now" by Robert Anton Wilson earlier this afternoon. it is an interesting book, a collection of essays loosely grouped around the idea of information theory and the relationship between perception and reality, drawing heavily on the work of Buckminster Fuller, Timothy Leary, Claude Shannon, James Joyce and William S Burroughs. the book switches between more straightforward essays/narrative pieces and heavily trippy cut-up prose poems designed to short-circuit consciousness.

anyway i was reading one of these pieces about information, collaboration and negentropy and it fit closely in with a blockchain project i'm working on (the XSG ARG got me into it actually). I was struck by the coincidence so i set the book down and I swear Robert Anton Wilson's ghost was standing next to my couch. I pictured him smoking a cigarette and he made this weird, distinctive sound like "...eeehhhwhew" and looked at me and laughed. like i saw it in my mind's eye and thought, "eeehwhew?"

anyway i got busy with something else, left, came back, and was reading the next piece which was one of these crazy prose poems using the cut-up method from Burroughs/Gysin.

the crazy part was, a few parts of the piece used words/language that had special meaning for me, like proper nouns and names and stuff seemingly referring to my own life. anyway this cut-up poem seemed to get more and more intense, almost disassembling my reality while i was reading it, all sorts of weird allusions and impressions coming into my head, building to a climax until finally it finished and i sank back into reality and said...
"ehhhhwhew."
and then a second later realized what had happened and i couldn't stop laughing
