When do you cut career profits?

Long story short, I'm in a strange place -- psychologically speaking. My wife and I made a goal to save up enough money to wipe out all debt. Within a few years, with surprising swiftness, we hit that goal. The problem is that we are red-lining a bit and work has consumed our lives but the money is so good it's difficult to turn back. Then there are weeks like this where I just want to burn all remnants of my career and fuck off to the middle of nowhere and die a hermit. Has anyone given a lucrative career and just cashed out? Fear and ego prevent me from doing so.

Just keep your current job but stop giving a fuck. That's what I did when they cut our raises and bonuses.

I wish. I have a tendency to overdue things when I'm motivated and I completelely dominated my domain. In other words, any slack would noticed immediately.
