>have 60 ETH in an online exchange
>staking it with a bonded period so if I ever get hacked, I can contact support or return my account to myself within 1-2 weeks
This is literally more safe then a ledger or offline wallet. Hackers could not virtually ever take my coins because I will know, and the last thing the exchange wants is hackers so moment you contact them they would freeze the account.

The only risk is if the exchange goes offline, which is never going to happen with the big 3 coinbase, kraken, binance. Checkmate.

>inb4 FTX

no one used FTX anyway, I have never met a single person who used it but everyone uses one of the big 3 exchanges. Literally safest way to store funds

The big risk isn't you personally, but the exchange getting btfo and then not being solvent for withdrawals. If not for that I wouldn't bother with a hardware wallet but we don't have SIPC on these not-securities and I don't trust exchanges to be resilient at all.

in a vacuum you're right
but there's numerous signs op is 90-100iq
if you need to be spoonfed here:
>confuses then and than
>bases decision on social proof rather than first principles
at that level of intelligence, it's unironically better to delegate custody of your funds
there's a much greater chance of opee doing something dumb like taking a picture of his seed, bragging about crypto gains, reusing private keys generated from an online wallet... than of the big exchanges messing up
opee isn't looking for a discussion on the pros and cons either. he wants to convince himself retroactively he's making the right choice
this is an essential part of the process for normal iq people. they don't have the ability to truly understand things, so they must manage their emotions once a decision is made

FTX was being used by multi-millionaires and corporations. Like the other Anon said, most people never even heard of FTX and the ones that did thought it was a scam.

Retail investors use Coinbase, Binance, Gemini, Robinhood and Fidelity.
