You're confusing the iron age process for extracting gold and other metals from free mill and refractory ores using a reducing blast furnace with cupellation for assay purposes and refining of gold. These are three very different processes and they don't mix.

your plan won't work because:
1. gold is heavier than lead, so the lead isn't going to sink to the bottom of melted gold
2. molten lead will mix with other metals but it also mixes just fine with gold, so you're just going to get a lump of gold mixed with lead and other metals
3. cement doesn't remove lead or other metals. that's bone ash you're thinking of. And the reason bone ash removes lead is because of its biological porosity, not the lime content. So cement won't work
4. You'd need a shitload of bone ash to absorb your lead, and that won't leave the gold and other metals separated, they'll just mix back in with the gold.

If you want real info on refining gold feel free to ask, you have a few experts in these threads. The best method is parting, rolling, and electrorefining. The second best is parting, rolling, and cyanidation. Third best is parting, rolling, and treatment with nitric acid followed by multiple treatments with aqua regia.

all of these methods are dangerous and expensive, but they actually work. Using lead is dangerous and expensive and doesn't work.

Also the reason humans stopped using lead to flux free mill and refractory ores is because at some point in the iron age they discovered mercury, which does exactly the same job but without having to be heated.

but neither mercury or lead flux will purify gold. And both are quite toxic and very sensitive to conditions of the process. You have to do things just right to use either one to get gold out of rocks. You can't mess up or the process either doesn't work, or kills you, or both.

The methods used by bronze and iron age people to mine and refine metals are complex, and a flow chart is usually used to illustrate them. But I don't have a flow chart made up, so a few notes follow:

once you decide a rock has metals in it, the easiest way to get the metals out is to crush the rock and pan it. This doesn't work on sulfur or chlorine salts of copper and silver though, so they developed lead fluxing in reducing furnaces. Basically crushing the rock, then heating it with a bunch of lead in a sealed furnace that has no way for air to get in. The heat and lack of air tends to cause some of the chlorine and sulfur to vaporize, leaving raw copper and iron and silver behind as solid metal. The lead melts and then alloys one molecule at a time with the copper, gold, and silver on the surface of the reduced metals, basically dissolving it one molecule at a time. It carries the metals because alloys of lead melt at a lower temperature than pure copper, silver, or gold. After alloying with the metals from the rocks it drips down to the bottom of the furnace, where it can be drained off and collected. This process loses over half of the gold and other metals, but it was the best they could do with metal salts that can't easily be panned.

Once the lead mixture was drained, it was then heated in the presence of air, causing the lead to oxidize into litharge. Litharge is lighter than the other metals so it floats to the top where it can be skimmed off. This takes a long time, but gets rid of the lead.

after that you were left with gold/silver/copper alloy with a bit of lead still left in it. This was melted, poured into water to form beads, and then the beads were hammered into foil. The foil was treated with acids, whatever was available. Lemon juice, purified vinegar, or sulphuric acid made by crushing pyrites and soaking them in water. The acids dissolve the copper and silver from the foil, leaving purified gold. This is then melted and poured.

Once you had the silver and copper dissolved in acids, several different processes could be used to extract them back out. The most likely process used by ancient people was just boiling the acid to drive off water until the mixture became oversaturated with metal salts and they begin to crystalize out. Those salts are then thrown into a reducing furnace again to drive off the sulfur or nitrogen or whatever, and reduce them to fairly pure metals of silver or copper or whatever.

none of these processes work well with plat group metals. Plat group is a bitch to refine, and methods were only developed fairly recently. The spanish prospectors in the new world hated platinum, and would abandon entire gold and silver mines if platinum was present in the ore. They had no way of getting rid of it. It's a bitch. You could write an entire book on refining platinum, and several people have.

>Once the lead mixture was drained, it was then heated in the presence of air, causing the lead to oxidize into litharge. Litharge is lighter than the other metals so it floats to the top where it can be skimmed off. This takes a long time, but gets rid of the lead.
This process can also be used to get rid of copper and silver, but it takes an extremely long time. Both will form oxides and crystalize out of the melt. But that requires running a blast furnace nonstop for days or weeks. It also means losing the copper and silver. On top of that you lose about half of your gold, because while it doesn't form oxides, it does tend to sublimate or spatter into microscopic bits that then fly up the chimney and into the air. So this was rarely done with gold ores. Pretty common with silver ores though, even recently. Most of the superfund sites in the US are from silver miners using blast furnaces to just burn off lead which then goes up the smokestack and settles in a thin toxic layer over the surrounding ground.

All of these processes were usually avoided by choosing which ores to mine. If they had the choice between mining relatively pure gold or a mine that produces say, electrum, they'd just mine the pure gold and ignore the mine that had less pure stuff. Same with copper or silver or lead. You'd just find a mine with pure metals of a single type and that reduced the amount of work and fuel needed to mine and refine the metals.

Also these processes evolved organically over time. Lead was used to extract metals so long ago the process is mentioned in the bible.
Mercury mostly replaced lead in ancient times, notably being used by egypt, greece, rome, muslim nations, china, and later the alchemists of europe who likely learned of it from muslim chemists.
Around the same time alchemists in europe discovered aqua regia, again likely with the influence of muslim science.
The spanish invented the patio process, using salt with mercury to get silver. They didn't know it, but they were using chlorine from the salt to dissolve metals so the mercury could then adsorb them.
From the patio process we moved on to using straight chlorine without any mercury to collect metals.

Much more recently chemists in the 1800's developed the use of cyanide and/or electricity to get metals out of rocks and purify them.

The most recent step is far more interesting, since we just use various chemicals to float metals out of the rock. This is an extremely complex and sensitive process, but relatively cheap and safe once it's working right. And this has become the most common method of getting metal out of rock in recent times. Though cyanide continues to be used in many places simply because it's cheaper.

>cyanide continues to be used in many places simply because it's cheaper.
the use of mercury also continues, particularly in small placer mine operations or by prospectors such as myself or maybe PAN MAN. Mercury is extremely dangerous to work with, but safe enough if you take the time to learn about it and aren't a complete retard.

however it does not purify gold or silver. It just removes it from crushed rock. It's very good at the job. Most prospectors have some on hand.

Reminder that gold/silver mining stocks always EXPONENTIALLY outperform the base metals during boom cycles.

I truly don't understand you people. Do you unironically think there is going to be a societal collapse so severe that the government will shut down the stock market and confiscate your shares? Do you just like holding shiny metals? Is that it?

I find it interesting when people (presumably cryptofags) claim that using gold and silver money somehow means you must abandon all modern forms of business transactions. "You would have to carry milligram pellets of gold and silver to buy your latte!" "You couldn't make international purchases!" Codswollop!

Western Union was wiring gold and silver 150 years ago! It would be even easier for them to do it now anywhere in the world. As for local transactions, take an example from Japan. As much as the Japanese government loves debt, the Japanese people hate it. They just won't use credit cards. They use cash. But they also use cash cards. In particular, the SUICA card. It was initiated by JR, the rail company, as a convenient way for riders to pay fares. But it has since spread and can be used with many other businesses. The card can be filled with cash at any convenience store, of which there are uncountable numbers. The exact same thing can be done with gold and silver. No banks involved. Nobody holding your money. No need to carry small coins if you don't want to. When the card is depleted, you just recharge it with your gold or silver coinage and voila'!

The only people gold and silver will not work for in the world today is dishonest people who want to manipulate the money supply for their benefit.

Didn't take a pic, but paneer tikka masala that my wife made. Now I'm sitting down with a 42 oz thermos of coffee and procrastinating on an essay that I've got due in 2 hours. Investing in myself by finishing my BSN in March, and then hopefully looking at grad school options after. The pay jump from an RN to an NP can be truly insane depending on the field you're working in, and I wouldn't mind getting an extra 30-40k a year to drop on gold/silver, ammo, and hobbies/travelling. Wish me luck, gents.

>>56907997
Depends on what you mean by "when the world ends." If there's civil or international war that puts armed militants in my city? Then gold and silver are not my primary concern, my concern is securing my home against dangers. If a food shortage erupts due to disruptions in global supply chains? My emergency pantry, my seed bank, my garden plots, and my neighbors are more important than gold and silver (I've seen bee boxes belonging to a guy down my street, and I've grown enough peppers to trade him some hot sauce for some honey). I'll be panic planting potatoes and eating canned pork'n'beans while they grow.

No, gold and silver is a "just in case" for financial collapse. The US government already cannot pay even the interest on the insane amount of debt it's accrued. It's no an if, but a when, the fiat economy finally collapses, and whatever economic system comes out the other side is going to have to be pegged to a tangible asset again for anyone to trust it. We used the gold standard in America until 1976 (though we severely crippled it in '44), and I believe that we will HAVE to peg the dollar to it again if we have any hope of rebuilding. Having a stash of precious metals is to help me preserve my wealth and get ahead of the game in an occurrence such as this.

>but what if we don't rebuild
Then bullets and guillotines, simple as.

I've been trading full time for about 5 years now and traded part time before then.
I started off on Stocktwits + YahooFinance and a little bit of youtube, which probably caused me to waste a year of time.
Eventually after a huge drawdown I unfollowed most people on stocktwits, bailed on yahoofinance (because dipshits arguing as to why a stock should move or do certain things, or what the valuations should be doesn't do anything for price and was a giant waste of time and I went from fundamental based trading to technical analysis).
I moved to youtube + twitter and started following the best traders on the planet and researching them.

-Mark Minervini (He's been in the markets for decades, won many trading competitions, multiple books, goes on CNBC alot. He dropped out of high school. Took him 6+ years to become profitable)
-Kristian Quallamaggi (Took him 5 years to make his first million, then went from 1 million to 100 million over the next 5. He used to work as a security guard. Now he just neet's and plays WOW all day between cruising around on yachts and doing trader interviews.)
-Mark Douglas (For trading psychology, which is incredibly important for trading, the best strategys are worthless if you don't have the mental discipline to execute them)
-Jared Wesley from live traders on yt (so much good content posted, he posts entire hour + long videos with some of the best teaching material imaginable. I'd encourage you to look into his 3 bar play videos as a good jump off point. I've watched probably 200+ hours of his content at this point).
-Oliver Velez (40+ year trader, huge bitcoin bull).
-William O'Neil (Both Minervini and Quallamaggi studied O'Neil)
-Jesse Livermore (William Buffet of day trading in the early 1900's).
-Cameron Ross (Great for day trading/scalping)
-Oliver Kell
-Traderlion channel on yt is another good source

theoretical gains on assets that haven't yet sold

In the US that means your house and your retirement accounts for the ~60% of americans that have them. And for 90% of that fraction, neither is worth enough to be taxed even if they cashed out.
This precedent would cause a violent revolution if applied equally to all americans. As it is, they only plan on taxing billionaires like Schiff.

Yes. The half million exemption on houses was written at a time when half a million would buy you a mansion on several hundred acres. It has fairly quickly turned into an enormous tax on even modest houses in California, Colorado, New England, and lots of other places.
Time will tell what happens, but more likely than revolution is just home owners voting in anyone that promises to raise the exemptions.

Considering how many USD's are held by other nations as the currency global reserve currency, when they come flooding back to be spent in the country due to them no longer being needed is when this confiscation from unrealized gains kicks in. It's as if this is all by design, that when the state is under threat of its existence it will just consolidate everything. The only way for this to not happen is the abolish the central bank because the fiat value would be null and void.

Probably because something that reflected visible light is now producing visible light. Producing visible light only requires the bonding of elements with oxygen, which surrounds everything in the atmosphere. Take a Bunsen Burner for example, if you reduce the inflow of oxygen you turn a blue flame into a yellow flame. That's because the bonding process is producing more CO2 than H2O.

He said he was sick of arguing with people over fundamentals and decided to focus solely on profitability. So saying one of the TA traders from that list didn't understand what a company does, is exactly his point lol. It's mostly irrelevant to TA trading. He (and so far myself) only care about identifying patterns and developing a profitable strategy. There's either results or not. Period.

International trade that was solely done in USD has been operating with national currencies for a couple years now. BRICs reserve currency or not, the USD is already being dethroned as the #1 world reserve currency bud lol. This is the scattering and regrouping stage where countries are trying to not get stuck with too much of this currency or the other, and hashing out deals to avoid big trade imbalances. Russia was just complaining about all the Indian currency they're stuck with, and other countries are trying to dump their Chinese money as of late because of China's debt issues...

...the other world powers pulling together some assets and staking them against a designated inter nation trade currency is tye most likely solution.

None of that means countries are going to give up their national currencies, nor would there be small denomination paper brics notes that citizens would use. It's all about getting out from under the US economic world domination while avoiding huge trade imbalances. You can't blame them. What made China Industrialize into a TechnoDystopia so fast?
Weak currency, cheap labor, desperate workforce
The U.S. can achieve this by being a economic vassal state to eastern countries for a few decades and voila, we end up with On Par or greater infrastructure than the chinese.
If china has turned against the jews, we coax them into the same deal we gave the Chinese in the 70s. and while they sleep, we impoverish and enslave our people to suck resources and infrastructure homebound. There will still be wealth for the few, but we will practically enslave most of the population and the crushing poverty will ensure their compliance.

Could be. I didn't pay attention to gold premiums much when the silver premiums went crazy this past spring, but gold premiums are certainly creeping up RN after this recent spike. Silver premiums are still "low" but inching up a bit. No more $1 rounds or bars anywhere lol.

My theory is saying we should see premiums spike in Jan or feb. Ill wait and see if it's accurate.

This. I want 5 more years to accumulate silver. Once this train leaves the station there is no catching back up to it. Your wages will be nothing in comparison to silver ever again. And in some abstract sense, you will never be richer than you are right now when 10oz bars of silver are $250-275. Most people will never even be able to save up to buy a 10oz bar of gold without it taking a year+. I don't think we truly appreciate how insane this all is given how much we know about the dumpster fire the financial system is.

all business is subsidized indirectly by the state and feds with enormous tax write offs they don't give to private individuals. If businesses were taxed like people, nothing would be profitable in the US, including scrapping cars.

depends how far you are from someone that wants it. Transporting the junk costs fuel and time.
>Is there a lot of gold in the cars?
no, it's about the same as a couple laptops. Far less than a gram, but any e-scrap is valuable to somebody. Again you have shipping expenses, but computer/electronic parts are much cheaper to ship than transmissions or engines or body panels.
