More to the point, LN is FIAT. It's a private ledger. What you are doing is connecting with a hub that settles on your behalf at a later date and time. That's what ALL layer 2 is. LN is slightly more complex than most implications, but it also fundamentally doesn't work and has rampant security flaws. It is a steaming pile of shit. It'll never be used. Less than a percent of Bitcoin has ever been on it. It's much safer and easier to drop the bullshit and simply use a layer 2 that avoids complexity to complete the same action and is in principal the same.

Better yet however it's best to scale the goddamn blockchain and ignore layer 2 entirely.

LN has an immense amount of bugs and vulnerabilities. They can't patch them all. People have lost Bitcoin. Going offline can cause loss of Bitcoin. LN has literally none of the security of Bitcoin. It's a separate unrelated system that settles payments onchain. Developers of it of LN recommend users go an additional step and employ third party watch towers to watch for fraud. Something not required on Blockchains.
