the way I see it is that it was mostly a bet for them hoping to make up on missed gains by selling LINK now for ROSE, waiting for ROSE to pump and then buy back more LINK with the profits.
ironically all they had to do was buy AVAX which launched its mainnet around the same time, and they were actually early for that too but missed it out completely because they already had brainwashed themselves into thinking ROSE is some God Protocol while actually it was Avalanche that was the other God Protocol.

the only bullcase for ROSE is that oasis labs partners with Ava Labs and figures out how to sell their EVM Subnet products through the Ava Labs BD before anyone else gets the idea and forks it then builds their own products on top of it which essentially is just copypasting solidity contracts.
There are actually several other Privacy focussed Subnets in development so its not like the competition is sleeping.
