You actually need 2240 ICP staked for 8 years to get 1 ICP per day. If you had staked 1316 ICP back in 2021 when this pic dropped and you didn't hit dissolve and you merged maturity daily you'd probably still get 1 ICP per day right now due to age bonus and rewards increasing your stake. Only ~5 years until staking rewards bottom out.

ICP's goal is to basically give 5% of total supply to governance participants per year. If 99% of ICP is staked for 8 years then your reward would be around 5% APY, but this is extremely unlikely. I'm expecting 8%-10% APY for an 8 year neuron from 2029 onwards. I'm not sure how deflationary pressures tie in to voting rewards. Currently ICP doesn't deflate obviously.

Currently as a percentage of total supply,
ICP Staked 8 years = 26.2% (2x VP multiplier)
ICP Staked 3-7 years = 8.57% (~1.5x VP multiplier)
ICP Staked 0.5-2 years = 10.15% (~1x VP multiplier)
Total ICP staked participating in governance = 44.95%

If 99% of ICP manages to get staked in 8 year neurons my APY may get down to 5% but the price will have gone up far more drastically than my APY goes down.

I would suggest you spend some time studying icp then. It is a completely different beast than other blockchains, some call it the third evolution of blockchain. The first being money (btc) second being ethereum (programmable money, smart contracts) and the third obviously icp. What sets icp apart among many other things is that you can host full stack decentralized applications directly on the blockchain. Icp can serve web and talk directly with web2 while other blockchains rely on cloud services and oracles. For example when you buy an nft on ethereum you are basically buying a link to a picture hosted on amazon servers, when you buy an nft hosted on icp the data is actually hosted on chain. Same goes for games, if you are playing a solana based game everything but the token is hosted on cloud, icp games are served directly from the blockchain. This is basically what ethereum was supposed to be but never came close to achieving, a world computer. There are also many other unique capabilities like chain key cryptography that allows icp to sign transactions directly to other blockchains from smart contracts on icp, this essentially makes icp a layer2 for almost every other chain.

There is so much to grasp about icp it will take a long time to understand. There is some good info out there but also a lot of false info and intentional misdirection. If you are truly interested I would suggest joining the community on Twitter and watching YouTube videos from dfinity, the ones with the lowest view count are usually the best because they are the boring ones that actually explain the tech. I would stay away from influencers as they are basically faggots who are only trying to direct you to pump their bags. There are some good anons here who will point you in the right direction, but there are also just as many who will lie and try to demoralize/fud because they are bored and don’t have much else to do with their lives.
