I’m currently interviewing for a software engineering position at a company that has cameras + robot dogs around construction sites to automate the jobs of a security guard, OSHA safety supervisor, and a project supervisor.

They are also partnering with startups designed to automate moving materials on construction sites.

Lawyers were one of the first jobs to be automated my computers. Before many lawyers whole job was to read documents and find stuff. Now they just press control-F and find it within a few minutes and get paid a lot more

You don't have to worry about robots. Imagine AR glasses or something smaller connected with AI that tells you what to do and how to do it. Anyone with that technology could do your job. Sure, you have all your tools and stuff that other people don't have, but you'll have much more competition and lower demand than now. Also add that robots are good only when it is done in really tight tolerance and that it can not grasp as of now how to weld bigger holes, I'd say I am safe for another 3 years.
