So the latest SAVE news: Tomorrow is last buy day if you want the November divvy payment (0.10 a share). So far it's been the govt doing the presenting to the Judge. After the thanksgiving break it's the JBlu/Save lawyers turn. Judge wants to rule before Christmas. Also a settlement could happen at anytime. Which would be the natural thing considering the govt's case is weak as hell. Everyone would save face on the deal. Note; a settlement does not affect the agreed upon price per share payment. That's a totally separate thing which has zero bearing on the case at hand.

I went to the bank with him to help him look at CDs, money market accounts, etc so he can get some interest and start thinking about saving, investing, and being financially minded. But the money markets at his bank were shit and if he dropped below $15 k on the money market they would charge a $15/month fee, and only pay 3%, the savings account pays nothing, and so he opened a Robinhood acct basically for the 4.9% it pays

But he just bought that NVDA stock out of the blue. So yea, I'll ask him

Aside; if SAVE keeps on moving higher at it's present rate by Dec 15th you could be seeing 29 a share looking back at you. That assumes a settlement or verdict doesn't happen first and "they" let it keep going. So at that point (29) you could sell all and walk with profit no waiting on closing at all cause the most you could get by waiting is 29.80. (plus the dec 0.10 divvy). Up to you to decide if that .90 total more is worth it or not.

I'm reading more about money market funds and as it turns out:

>On March 30, in the midst of the latest banking crisis, Treasury Secretary Janet L. Yellen targeted money market funds as an area of special concern. “If there is any place where the vulnerabilities of the system to runs and fire sales have been clear-cut, it is money market funds,” she said. “These funds are widely used by retail and institutional investors for cash management; they provide a close substitute for bank deposits.”
>While noting the regulatory tightening that had already occurred, Ms. Yellen said that much more needed to be done. “The financial stability risks posed by money market and open-end funds have not been sufficiently addressed,” she said.

It’s less stimulative than bank deposits. Money market funds are 1:1. There is a short term asset for every short term liability. The money only goes to the us government and investment grade corporations. If you put the money in a bank (assuming they have balance sheet space) it gets levered 4:1 in your local community (if regional or community bank) or office/multifamily development and corporate credit lines (if moneycenter). If money market funds became the default cash management system, the world basically blows up because you’re delevering so much in a short timeframe

Speaking of fake and gay, I've been house hunting lately, and noticed that a lot of homes are not selling, even after reducing prices. There was a lot of construction that was halted during covid, but the only places in the area that are building are new homes on empty lots in existing neighborhoods. All of the 'planned neighborhood' construction by like DR Horton and others still hasn't started back up. I'm in Central TX, and thought we had a pretty strong market with all of the coasties coming in, but this looks fucking bad. Didn't know about it til I asked my realtor about new neighborhoods in the area today and we went to go look at one. No materials, no equipment, just half built homes and blank foundations among a handful of built homes. Looked like a warzone.

No, their fee structure is much lower than any other auction platform. They only charge 5% on the first 100k, all of the good shit sells for a great deal, and it brings dealers that have interests in cheaper cars to cover the cost, they can charge more for the cheaper stuff. Buyers of the expensive stuff will pay more to close just because they're saving so much vs other platforms, and that keep the market in general inflated, but it's finally popping. On their site. That means the market in general is going to collapse soon as well.

The treasury is taking on unsustainable losses to move its debt from long term bonds with lower interest rates into short term bonds with even higher interest rates. The decision has been made to avoid a really bad financial crisis right now at the cost of an even more severe sovereign debt crisis after Biden loses the election. This is like the government choosing to shoot themselves in the face a year from now instead of breaking their arm today. Not to mention he cannot shut down the peso without a massive devaluation, since every bank would need to convert the peso bank accounts into dollars, and the only way to do that would be with a massive devaluation, throwing even more people below the poverty line. Combined with a free and open market, which means prices will soar, it's just a recipe for disaster. So I think this will mostly be a nothingburger for a long time. Can't be done overnight. You cannot run a country by yanking the steering wheel like a madman. I don't necessarily disagree with open the markets, removing the 'lock' on the peso and all that shit-- I'm all for it. But this psycho, I think, won't be the right character to pull this off. He's saying stuff like "this is no time for gradualism" and promising to privatize most state-involved companies promptly, while massively opening the economy and removing most protectionist measures (such as the ones that make sure food is at a decent price to the internal market, or that renting is feasible, etc) also very quickly.

Also getting rid of the peso and shutting down the central bank is fucking insane. I'm not even sure he believes it's possible.

Don't get me wrong I'm very right wing, but this dude is a clown, and not fit to be president. But I hope I'm proven wrong, maybe he'll come to his senses.

Small caps care about rates right now since they are the ones to suffer the most because of them. This year has been more of a tech/big industry rally. I suspect small caps will continue to underperform until we start to see some real headway in inflation and/or FED announces small cuts.
Still, the mega tech is just too strong and too many big funds and big money is flocking into it. Nobody wants to buy anything else... and why should they? Big tech has the brightest and most clear future. Plus big funding, best debt, lowest debt, and they are earning big interest to offset inflationary costs, and so on.
You always wanna buy the strongest stuff, not the weakest. The weakest is weakest for a reason and vice versa

Companies think they're humans. Companies aren't humans. If you stop feeding them immense amounts of resources, they don't grow. Humans, on the other hand, can go months without food.
