Right now after expenses I am saving 4.8-5k a month. Usually closer to 4.8k. Is this considered good? I nonchalantly mentioned it to a coworker and he was shocked, and said he can barely save $500 a month.

Very good depending on your monthly expenses. You should aim for 6-12 months of being able to survive without any source of income. After that chuck more into roth IRA/ withhold more for 401k/ crypto etc etc
