Ledger is proprietary and could contain any sort of code. They also cache seed phrases and seeds on private servers.

My BTC is on an etched steel plate with a seed phrase on it. I have a receiving address and a QR code for depositing.
I trade ETH using Metamask but because it's all a scam market, I don't bother keeping a cold wallet for ETH since I mostly pump and dump there.
