I think it was called AVA originally then somebody else had AVA so they put an X on the end but made the utterly stupid decision to make the official pronunciation "ah-VAAHX", literally the least intuitive way to say it.

If AVAX is derived from Avalanche, then you should say it like the beginning of Avalanche but with an X on the end or alternatively like a Burgerclap "AY-Vax".
