Sounds reasonable and plausible, yet again from a few years ago when oil was ~$145 iirc it didn't affect the strength of the economy much (if at all).
I tend to look at abrupt movements more like a momentum thing. But that's just me.
However, as you said, everything is Oil. The worl moves on it. Hence it's a mystery to me why the price inflation over the past years has ignored Oil and producers are happily and willingly parting with their finite product for less and less compensation. These prices at the moment are less then recessionary levels without a recession even occurring at the moment.
The longer Oil hovers at these prices or below, the more any recessionary tendencies get eradicated.

"Fair value" of Oil would probably be around $160 to $200 right now.
