The 1,000 Mark bill was worth the equivalent of 11.52 troy ounces of fine gold in German coin when issued, a dozen years later their 100,000,000,000 Mark bill was, at best, worth the equivalent of a silver dime when issued.

Anyone who says they made money on silver is lying. No exceptions. Unless they are MintScamAnon (seen here >>56662750 harvesting huge premiums from sheeple)
No exceptions. Scrapanon buying "sterling" forks and paying $60 shipping? Code for fake shit you don’t understand and losing money. Bob buying Chinese made counterfeit Spanish dobloon ashtrays? Dementia. Incels tell you they find a silver dime in the sewer it’s some girl shit, Dad went out for cigarettes fifteen years back.

It’s dead money....,.., no interest, no dividends.....,...no appreciation.

The money you invest is the exact amount you’ll have, minus 80%. The rest, they will suck out of you on premiums, inflation and shipping. Stocks go up. Taxes go up. A new tax, some environmentally friendly waste disposal fee– to create recycled shit you can pay for again. All of it for them. Every extra penny you spend on silver....gone. You can’t get out of it. No more than the deer escapes the wolf. Unless you don’t work. And the only way to not work is by not buying silver.

>why does the Liberty on her hair band look like a microsoft paint job?
Strange, eh? A couple of factors seem to go into that. It's the same frosty bright as the background, so it it turns out bright. I'm not sure, but the frosted grain might be finer, too - making it more reflective. The big thing though, the letters are formed very slightly stamped into a flattened band of proof - the sloped edge between the frosted letters and the proof is therefore very much shorter than any other boundary area. The effect is then a sharp contrast between bright and dark, which gives an almost edited look. It really makes the "Liberty:" stand out.
Here's a crop from the original image.

OH BOY IT'S US!

General update since i know we havent been postting much (we are still here just working and trying to secure things in the background). The twitter post thats about to be up goes into a bit more detail but the main thing is that we are still working on projects but we arent putting a coin out until next year. New job/holiday obligations have left us absurdly busy and we wont have anything for sale/pre-order until the new year.

We are still working and talking with people to secure our own equipment to allow us to persue projects with more autistic freedom and the abilty to make things a bit spicier than what our mint currently allows (otoya is pretty much the upper limit).

For now as usual if you have any questions feel free to reply or email us or send us a thing on twitter. We appreciate the support and we have kept an eye on things during the quite. Please enjoy your holidays and keep yours eyes peeled. (mailing list is ready and will probably roll out in the new years as well)

You buy PMs as a backup measure just like other emergency scenario items. Even if you know for sure when something will happen (if it does in your lifetime) you don't go all-in. Why?
>Kaspa and QANX do a 10X between February and August

Just a few examples of investments made that result in more money for all sorts of things, including PMs. But of course investing takes research time not everyone has.

The dollar is the lynchpin of the world economy

Long ago, the money changers realized that national debt levels and the levels of money printing they were engaging in were sustainable without any kind of reasonable bond yield levels. The interest on 1 trillion debt at 18% interest as occurred in the 1980s would be absolutely impossible to sustain at current debt levels of 28 trillion but with 30 year bond yields at 4%, they can kick the can down the road for a few more centuries.

To keep real bond yields low, the money changers also needed to trick the goyim into not caring that inflation is HIGHER than the bond yields they require as nobody would buy 4% yielding bonds if inflation was obviously 16%.

They learned that they could drag the entire commodities market higher by flooding the market with now useless precious metals, the price of wheat, toilet paper and lithium for example was dragged into a brutal bull market for the last 10 years at the same time as the gold and silver bear market as now no one wanted the barbarous relics of dead white men.

They knew that the silver market was much smaller than the gold market, no nations used it for monetary purposes, and everyone had huge nonstrategic stockpiles of the useless metal.

By exposing the tiny 20 billion dollar silver market as worthless they could drive gold down too, which is always tied in a ratio range with silver.

By selling a tiny fraction of the mountains of available silver, they could force gold to act in turn which is used as an inflation signal for the broader commodities market and supported the continuation of artificially low bond yields and forever sustain high level of national debt.

As the silver premium ponzi scheme unravels, pmg thread creation will spike, taking down the entire incel stacker system and ensuring the dollar maintains its status of Gigachad world reserve currency.

It's been true for 25 years fren. Ebay exist since 1995 even. I see where you are coming from, but stamps were already dead and down by -90% by 2008-2010. Then it was a slow agony until it lost all it's appeal. Meanwhile, coins still are going strong with a healthy demand in 2023. Lot of coins are slowly creeping up in price.

From what i understand it's not at the highs of the speculative mania, but i don't see it as a bad thing. It's now based on real offer and demand from hobbyists rather than scalpers.
If internet were to be the end of coin collecting, then it would already have occured by now.

Now if CBDCs take over and younger generations forget coins ever existed, then it could experience the same fate than stamps i guess, but that's not for today.
I'm far, far more worried about MTG or pokemon than numismatics if we look at alternative collectible investments for example.

as a guy that makes $10-$30k a year flipping coins on ebay I can say with some confidence a full 2/3s of the sales there are to scalpers like me. But the coins do eventually end up in real collections, and scalping has done a lot to keep prices high. How long that will last I don't know. As you say, they've done much better than stamps. I don't personally bet on it going on forever though. Numismatics saw its peak in the 1980's, and has done pretty well since then. >But the market dynamics are very similar to stamp collecting and that's pretty much collapsed over the same time period.

I think a big difference was the role that viral marketing and the nascent art of applied sociology in the promotion of fads/trends played in essentially creating the hobby. From the start it was more like Beanie Babies where much of the energy which made it rise in apparent popularity was just hype and speculative fervor shepherded by shrewd stamp dealers who made a goddamn fortune on what was more like a Ponzi scheme than a legitimate hobby. Early true collector autists aside it was far less of an organic development like coin collecting which got going strong by the 1600s, so the eventual deflation of interest in and popularity of stamp collecting was basically baked-in from the start.

There is plenty of hype and manufactured inauthentic nonsense to be found in the realm of coins, so garbage Disney or Star Wars limited edition collectible coinslop won't be selling at Christies in 200 years, but like fine art, rare artifacts and antiques I think real honest coins struck for circulation have far more staying power than most other collector hobbies. Maybe things like Morgan dollars will deflate a as boomerburger collectors die and take the hype with them or nouveau riche Chink/Arab "investors" get liquidated and are forced to sell their soulless slabbed hoards, but overall numismatics will be around longer than any of us or our future grandkids

And coin collecting is an ancient hobby. It will undoubtedly live on.

I'm just not sure if the prices for a lot of US stuff are going to stay up. I mean say, key dates of a coin that was produced in the tens or hundreds of millions with several million still remaining. That kind of thing boomed back when you only had one or two shops to choose from, and neither had the coin you wanted. Now you can easily find that coin online, probably dozens of them. a lot of countries pay other countries or companies to mint their coins. Basically they have to buy their own coins from someone else.

others probably don't have the demand to make it profitable. I expect it's extremely profitable if you're selling hundreds of millions of coins, maybe billions. But for lower numbers it might not be worth it.
Other countries probably can't afford the upfront cost of buying that much bullion, or would rather spend the money on something else.

The logic is somewhat backwards. Companies solicit governments for what amounts to endorsements - validation through being currency, which in many countries also allows them to avoid certain taxes. For example the Bavarian State Mint solicited some African nations for their Elephant series in 1995, settling on Zambia. Zambia got some royalties, BSM coins were taxed less. In 2004 BSM negotiated with Somalia, and now we have Somali coins. Germania Mint has made coins for Malta (pic related) and Niue.

Dear anon, you don't understand how they play.
The goal of the cbdc was to make people love fiat currency (that ironically most people keep in a bank where it is digital for the most part).

The powers that be have put most people on their side by pushing the cbdc narrative. Not talking normies, those don't even know where they are. People who had a chance at waking up are now worshiping banksters fake money because "muh cbdc"

Truly those people in power are masters and all the people below are mostly stupid or easily manipulated

>stamp collecting was pushed into the mainstream by the USPS here.

Way before the USPS ever started with the lame endless parade of commemorative crap, probably by around 1905 or so the savvy stamp dealers really got going publishing price guides and promoting the hobby. I'm *sure* that they never contracted with scrap paper recyclers to set aside all stamps or cornered the market and bought up all the old unused stamps of every tinpot shithole on earth right before benevolently informing their readers about how rare and valuable those stamps were... I have 1 stamp price catalog from 1913-14 that's really something to thumb through, seeing stamps being offered for the equivalent of kilos of gold then which ain't worth an ounce now might make the less credulous wonder what kind of semitic shenanigans were going on behind the curtains of the hobby back then.

>That kind of thing boomed back when you only had one or two shops to choose from, and neither had the coin you wanted. Now you can easily find that coin online, probably dozens of them. But I suppose time will tell if US coins are in a bubble or not.

My dad bought a nice 1931-S cent for something like $40 back when he was 20 in the early 80s, kinda timed his entry into that bubble wrong lol. I was a young kid but sponged up observations and info about coin and antique markets since before eBay existed and agree that global access to our coveted baubles via the internet sent violent destabilizing shockwaves through every hobby but I don't see a similar paradigm shift occurring again. Now we just need to be aware of generational cohort effects and the newfound prosperity of countries that weren't participants or competitors before. I think US coins are definitely in a bubble so as the oldfags die and hoards get liquidated prices for many things will become more reasonable again. While we wait for that wheel to turn I'm happy collecting cheap ancients, the bang for your buck there is unmatched.

That poor girl lived in Breckenridge Colorado, and if she had dumped her money into real estate instead of stamps, and the family then held onto it, we'd be billionaires. Instead we got a box of stamps we can't sell and wouldn't dare use on a letter.

When I was a kid I used to sort through change for rare pennies. I had 4 1972 double dies. I think I sold them for $20 each, which was a lot for a kid in the 70's
Kinda wish I had kept one or two.

Ancients in my opinion are the truly undervalued items on the market. Seriously, those are amazing coins with tiny populations and absurdly low prices.

On a somewhat related note, seems like I should mention it here for pmg since we are on the topic of stamps but in the US you can send a 2 cent letter if you don't abbreviate the address and don't include the zip code or write zip exempt. Jesus man, how many bags of cents did you sort through? That's an extraordinary haul, I'm still looking and hoping to find one (1969-S DDO a better but unrealistic aspiration) My grandpa bought a mint bag of '72 cents and looked thorough them with my prepubescent dad but they didn't find shit. When I was little dad and I found a 1995 DDO though, not worth much but I thought it was really exciting.

And yeah, I'm biased but could tap out a long detailed thesis on why ancients are a sound long-term investment. A guy like you could afford some jawdropping rarities, or toss a few grand of play money around and get enormous ~100g Ptolemaic Egyptian bronze octobols or Republican Roman ~300g cast bronze (from back when they were on a Bronze monetary standard!) Aes Grave hockeypuck coins that would impress the hell outta anyone and cost less than an unremarkable circulated 1916-D merc.

not sure, but I had $100 from my newspaper route, and once or twice a week I'd go down to the bank and buy pennies. This was early 70's. I'd unwrap the rolls, search them, and then count and wrap them again for another trade. I got really excited if I found a wheatie, and super excited if I found a 1955. I never did find a full DD 55 though. Those were valuable even back then. I should've known the 72's would become valuable. But one I found was just DD date. Not sure what the various types are worth now, but I figure if I had 4 of them BU at least one is worth something now.

I would love to go all in on ancients. I particularly love the Alexander gold coins. Fucking spectacular.

but don't misread me. Like most US millionaires I am house-poor and business-poor. I don't usually have thousands to throw around, or if I do I'm going on vacation with the family or eating an amazing dinner or buying the wife something nice. I don't spend a lot on myself unless my company pays me to. You probably spend more on ancients than I could afford. And I don't know shit about what's good in that market. I just know what I like and it's mostly gold.

Ah yeah that's right, I've looked at the Cherrypicker's Guide before and there were a bunch of different DDO varieties, some 1972-D DDOs too. Even if yours weren't all the best variety that is still a damn good haul, hopefully you used the money you got on things that were worthwhile in retrospect?

I've related it before, but an old college friend of my parents told me about how when he was 7 or 8 he got a really weird penny in change which made him feel like he'd gone cross-eyed when he looked at it. Kept it a few days and showed friends at school, but then decided to invest it in a gumball machine. "That was the most expensive piece of candy I've ever bought" was his wistful conclusion, kek.

where it's actually getting requested is in cell phones. Pretty much everyone in the world has one now. They all contain silver in the screens and boards. Only reason it's not outpacing gold is because those phones also have a fair amount of gold in them.

if I recall right I spent the money on silver 3 cent pieces, which I later sold for a small profit. I've been collecting coins almost since I could walk, I am obsessed with them.

regarding the gumball machine, I told a story a couple threads ago... On labor day weekend last I got good and drunk and took the wife out to the dive bar to shoot pool. Being drunk, I inserted a $2k saloon token into the pool table repeatedly trying to get a game of pool. Luckily it didn't accept it, but I sure tried. Would've been the most expensive game of pool I've ever played if it had worked. Instead I got in a fighting mood and got myself arrested and sent to jail for a day. But I still have the token so it all worked out.

pic related, the coin I tried to spend on pool. One of a kind, the only one from the town.

This scenario only exists because payments continue to be made by the bondmarket thereby propping up hundreds of trillions worth of paper value. Once the quality of these investments, banks and insurance comes into question there won't be anywhere near enough metal to make everyone whole.
Imagine if shit hits the fan and grocery stores stop receiving shipments of food. Now imagine the hundreds of thousands of people going out into the woods and killing and eating all of the deer, squirrels and rabbits. It wouldn't take long at all for basically all of the wild game to get eviscerated to feed the starving humans. Even one single millionaire could walk up and cut a check and buy out a LCS and create a silver desert. It is the norm that the dollar and stocks and bonds and all of this leverage is a fine investment. But can it last indefinitely? Math says that it can not. There is no magic trick that allows you to hide financial losses forever. There is no account you can pawn them off onto and hide from the public. All it does it spread the losses out over everyone who holds dollars and when that day finally comes around there will be no doubt. Every labor-hour of work you did today will be worth next to nothing in the future. Even more stark a contrast than you working for $5 per hour in 2000. In today's money that is nothing. Your retirement, your ownership your dividends will get you nowhere fast.

Real economies need real rates of interest to accumulate capital and therefore function. By lowering interest rates the economy has been flooded with liquidity and created misallocation of resources in favor of consumption as opposed to one of deferring consumption. Low interest rares implies there is an abundance of savings in the economy and that is not true. We've been consuming to excess despite the fact that we are getting poorer. And low interest rates have created speculative bubbles and created ungodly amount of rollover risk in the event that companies need to refinance their debts. Low interest rates allow companies to support higher levels of borrowing but ONLY at those low rates. Interest rates are now rising and the cost to borrow is now far far higher than they can likely sustain. This also entices consumers to save and creates a natural slowdown and exposes malinvestment.
Essentially, in order to prop up the banks and wallstreet after 2008 we created a massive glut of problems. It all boils down to refusing to write off bad debts and pretending that they are valid when they should not be.
The boomers in 1990s were buying houses for 14% interest. That is much more normal. And in 1980 Paul Volcker jacked up interest rates to 20% to fight inflation.
Our economy can not afford that, even though that is exactly what the economy needs. A cleansing wave of bankruptcy. To do that today blows out all of the banks, the government feds, state and local along with countless overleveraged corporations and insurance funds.
To not allow bankruptcy to occur and to try to abuse the currency to prop up malinvestment then the economy continues to sputter until the deflationary aspects of poor wages and unemployment cannot prop up the inflationary policies of the government.

>> No.56670971

>>56670847
It all comes down to leverage being used to prop up bad financial assets. Leverage has to be paid back, plain and simple. If we deflate all of the asset values will collapse into zeros or we can inflate and destroy the value of cash which is basically the same as a default as the $1000 bond you buy is not going to pay back your money in equivalent values.
It's the "claims" that are ruined. Real goods, quality companies and commodities will survive and happily slurp up all of the bogus accounting being down to make these bad debts go away.
Banks HATE deflation. Banks can happily survive inflation so that is most likely what they'll do. They will try to slow-boil us for as long as they can. But the thing is essentially ruined. The Fed's balance sheet was ruined in 2008 and there is no coming back from it. They wrote $6TN of bad checks and essentially put the U.S. taxpayer on the hook to repay the banks all of that money. A complete abuse of the monetary system to hide its excesses. This is a long time coming.

Kinda jelly, ngl. Most are worthless but some are worth hundreds, have you looked through them for special valuable ones? Most holiday cards ain't shit but I think early Halloween cards are desirable. Any ghost town, pre-prohibition brewery, trainwreck, or other actually cool stuff? I don't have too many but pick up scarce interesting cards when cheap, here is a set of scarce ones from Medicine Bow, WY from the 1910s, population around 150 back then. I'd be lucky to get more than $30 each but when I see stacks priced at a few quarters or $1 a piece I can't resist doing some cherrypicking.

That said, having been in a few mines (deepest so far: coal mining, 1000 m bgl), it's still not really easy money nowadays. Sure, we've got LED lights that produce as much light as the whole set of acetone lights of a whole shift (or all the candles of a whole, huge mine), but still, it's hard work.
