So, not financial advice, just my experiences. I've held a lot of stuff in my brokers over the years. I've experienced a lot of various events: splits, reverse splits, corporate actions like mergers and acquisitions, dividends of various types, and even bankruptcies. And I gotta say what bbby did does not line up with any of them(except for an impending merger), and also the types of communication from my brokers also has been different with bbby. Bankrupt shares don't get dtcc removed. they sit there. Same with corporate actions, you tend to get exact emails/letters giving the instruction of whats going to happen with that security and its derivatives, not this fog of war stuff. Nor have I ever had shares get removed and I get very opaque confirmation statement stuff from my brokers. This is the exact opposite of any other kind of corporate action I've ever been a part of. I can't help but feel my brokers know as little as I do, if not less than me.

I've only ever experienced that in a merger, and not just as an investor but as an employee in companies being acquired, or doing the merger. In both cases that fog of war is active, even most of the rank and file won't actually know whats up. Every time I've been involved with one, I've gotten at most, a 12hr notice that at market open tomorrow xyz has acquired pqr or what have you. Also when I am the benefiting party of the perks of these mergers, I was not told what I would be offered(cash + equity) until the deeds were all done, and this was far past the point of any sort of outside influence. I do think something major is happening. The NOLs seem like a likely vehicle for shares + bonds returning and a crazy as hell merger to begin. I'm down for this ride. The ever shambolic shills is just a perk of watching the show unfold.

The way I see it is there has to be, because how will shorts be able to close out a naked position in a new company. Say you get shares and cash. So we get a cash payout, shorts need to buy the shares or pay the payout? OK then Teddy shares get spun off, then shorts need to deliver shares of the new company. Oh wait it's not IPO'd yet so no one can buy. So when it does open it rockets up due to naked and normal shorting of the old company? So the cash offer would be a starting point of where it would begin, the price ever going up until <100% of the float is back. There is NO scenario where shorts don't cause a huge squeeze. The whole thing has been a bear trap from the start, baiting the algo with every single 8k or filing, reverse split etc All the things a short algo would go to town on. Only..... those warrants and preferred equity never hit the market, so the TSO is tiny still but the shorts went ham on it, as predicted.
