Why are people so pessimistic about our economy when every metric proves that we are doing amazing?

Americans, and the world generally are sicker today than ever before, as in, physically sick, the kind of sick being filthy rich won't do much for, they'd just find other stuff to be pessimistic about. Doesn't stop people from pretending it will though.

Postcolonial America is exactly the kind of fantasy land incels get an erection for. But apart from the lack of medical care, sanitation, refrigiation, etc., it seems 1000 times more based than today.

Real inflation in the past 4 years has been 40%+, meanwhile wages have gone down. Government fudges numbers and metrics purposefully. Real estate continues to climb further out of reach for the majority of the working class. Student debt payments now mean the largest chunk of consumers will consume less. Birth rates are down and immigration is up. Our government added like 2-3 trillion in debt over the past two months and soon interest payments will be more than what we can pay. Ukraine is the new middle east which will require a decade plus of American support to stifle Russia. Now Israel is in the mix.

We are so fucking fucked and the people that know it are scrambling to shape public perception to try to convince you that the game of musical chairs will never stop.

Every metric? Real wages haven't budged since the 1970s.

Most of us are overweight or obese and addicted to sugar and carbohydrates.
Like 10% of the population is addicted to alcohol or drugs. More people suffer from other addictions like gambling and consooming.
Add to that expensive healthcare and lack of financial security, and that explains it.
