Someone posted about the 47 prefecture 1000 yen silver coins a few days ago and I'm thinking of buying them as they're quite beautiful.
Found them for around £2,000 including probable import taxes, is there anything I should look out for?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/355118265734

Rather new to stacking, been wasting my money buy RoyalMint commemorative coins for a few years and only recently switched to bullion with a small premium, but these coins are just beautiful.

What's funny about all you silver scam victims is you are trapped. You lost 80% already and over 400% compared to the stock market . There is no legitimate reason to invest in shiny rocks

>>56536437
Hardly , watch these scam victims cope watch the scammers shill terrible investments its amazing!

If silver went up to $120 <it wont> you could sell and break even

If silver went to $670 <ROFL> you would be even with boomers who invested in the DJIA. <lmao>

But you won't sell because it's your whole life you will be a broke loser unless silver went to $100,000 and you could buy a virgin for 10 cents. Lmao that's what you were promised and what you believe.

So you are trapped. You are stuck with a lifetime of pain because you invested all your real $$$$ in a scam. You can't sell because that would be admitting you got scammed and you h8 me too much for telling you the truth and warning you. Emotionally and financially trapped its your whole life....your identity.

Lmao how did you get to this place? greed. You listened to a scammer and got greedy and wanted to get rich <and a gf> with no effort.

You've posted some of these before, the 79-er piece is most historically interesting to me but the upper left barrel bucket is most eye-catching, but what kind of bucket does it represent? Is it an ore bucket for hauling the goods out of a vertical shaft back in the earlier less mechanized era of mining in the region? Does the "$200,000,000" refer to the estimated value of ore reserves remaining in the Leadville district, or the value of everything mined up to that point?
>the miners sabotaged the mines by shutting off the pumps. This resulted in most of the mines flooding.
>what they didn't know is the owners weren't bluffing. They were going broke. So they never pumped those mines out. They closed them.

Sad, many such cases. Probably the same breed of people now demanding $20/hr and benefits to flip burgers less efficiently than the robots that'll replace them or UBI and free healthcare so they can spend all day cooming to tentacle hentai.

>>56535362
>this is probably the pic you're actually after.
Yes I believe so, maybe I was combining a memory of "16/1" pinbacks with those Denver Silver tokens and that pamphlet I knew you had, thank you they're super cool.
>It cost 15 cents at a time when the average wage for a 10 hour day of work was about a dollar.
>at about a dime per hour, this was about 1.5 hours of work. Or about $37 in today's wages in Colorado. This was not a cheap pamphlet, it was a donation to the Free Silver movement. A pretty big one.
Yeah I also noted the high price the first time I saw you post the pamphlet, didn't make the connection to it being a donation to the movement though, that makes it even more interesting! It has nothing to do with "Free Silver" but for comparison here's a Programme from Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show for their stop in New York in 1895. It's larger and would have been more expensive to print but was rather cheaper at 10 cents, though I'm sure the many interesting advertisements helped defray costs.

Thanks. The email was in my spam folder. I assume Gmail range bans Indian IPs or something as I've always received the bold order confirmation emails. I assume those are autogenerated from a domestic ip address. Anyway I'm really hoping it's my entire order that shows this week and I can delete Bold from my bookmarks and forget all about them. Like the other guy said, it was probably just stolen by USPS. I assume everyone in the terminal closest to their warehouse all knows what's in those packages.

I don't think IQDELET has been successful at anything in his life, but it's true that paying premiums when you don't have to is dumb. Everyone knows how I stack at below the cost of mining, and since Bob can just sit on his patented mining properties or go metal detect refinery dumps and collect 20lbs of silver for free when he feels like it he has no interest in paying spot+premiums either.

hey scrapfren,
Just to give you a little update on the coin. The auction ended way above the max bid you advised me (like 150€, wtf) so i didn't bother, but i'm already focusing on 2 others tetra, hoping to slurp them below 100€.

Instead of the coin, i took my revenge on an old sniper scope who is said to be from WW2 or prior, but i've no clue how real is this claim. I shouldn't buy stuff i know nothing about, but tbf i didn't expect to win it at all..
Tried to look for it on militaria websites, and from my searches the closest looking scope i could find from that era is the russian PEM, (version 1937?). At least the length, rollers and mount are matching. But the pics aren't the greatest, and i didn't see any USSR markings on them.

Tried to ask over /k/ if i was correct, but since the board devolved into 100% mossad glowies talking to each others about how they love Israel & hate Russia, i didn't end up gaining any info lol.

So i give it a chance here. If any anon have infos on the next few pics, it'd be greatly appreciated!

It's frustrating no doubt, but I think in my case it really may have been an issue with Gmail blocking Indian IP addresses. The lack of communication from that, and the horrid call connections/broken English is what was driving me nuts. Anyway, I'm not buying off a "domestic" dealer that outsources their CS if I can avoid it so, I'll stick with the bigger guys and Hero and GSM for their sales.

Also, I think it will get worse in the short term for sure, but I don't think it will last forever, though some of the national infrastructure might be permanently altered. Indians are fleeing Canada rn and moving home because Canada completely fucked up their economy...what do you think will happen in the US and Europe when the freebies to foreigners stop flowing or the money they're sending home isn't worth shit? Eventually, most will go elsewhere is all, and the formerly host societies can rebuild.

There's too many instances of advanced tech slipping into the public spotlight recently for me to believe the western world is destined to decay into some sorta dark ages is all. Surely, things will get worse before they get better, but I think by the end of this decade, things will seem a lot brighter.

When you get it, rub it down with one 3 in 1 or other light penetrating oil and remove those mounts. There's likely some markings underneath them. Idk anything about military collectable optics, but most older 3/4x scopes like that are worth pretty much nothing in the US. I have a few floating around that I took off older rifles Ive bought in the past. If you like that sorta stuff, try using US eBay.

Dark age would be the good outcome, but it's impossible, we can't go back in time, once we invent something new, we are doomed to use it and improve it, for best or for worst.

It doesn't seem like western woke culture or judeo-banking is gonna come out on top of things. I mean, it really doesn't look that way lol.

You can probably find lots (bulk lots) of old scopes like that on us eBay. They're worth nothing here. I actually took one off an old .22 I bought for my wife and replaced it with a $7 Walmart Tasco 4x, because it's lighter and not rusty. The $7 scope had a bit worse eye relief if I recall, but she doesn't seem to mind lol. Anyway my point is that people take those old scopes off of guns, toss em in a box, and buy new optics all the time. There's no market for them as import optics are often nicer and cost so little. If they're worth something where you live, you might be able to make some cash if you're willing to pay international shipping.

Yeah, slabbed coins tend to sell for more than they're actually worth, but like I said I'm not well versed in Ptolemaic coinage. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to get a Ptolemy IX tetradrachm at a fair price though, I don't think they're rare. Looks a bit brittle, the small edge chips suggest it's crystallized so don't fondle it too hard but for just a few eurobucks who can complain. Lorraine struck some pretty sweet coins, what others do you have?

that's really damn good for a brick of halves nowadays, barbers are rare finds even for coin roll hunting autists. Your bank may have gotten an unusually good batch of boxes that had someone's stack mixed through them so buying more boxes might not be a bad idea.

Few similar but from Charles III & Henri II (minor changes on the armories) from the same period, and my favorite is their big brother, pic rel.
Nothing too fancy but i got 6 in a lot for 35€, already sold 3 for 20€/ea so this was a fantastic deal for a newbie like myself.

Hell yeah, that's a nice looking coin! Did you get that one in the lot of 6 for 35€? The surfaces look good and the silver doesn't appear to be too brittle, definitely a keeper. Those spots of black gunk would probably be really easy to clean off using a very sharp bamboo skewer or large thorn to reach into and scrape out the grime, with minimal effort that coin would look even better than it does now. You say you're a bit clumsy but if you're ever interested in trying to clean coins I'd recommend starting with that one, it would be an easy and forgiving candidate.

Yes, part of the lot -who was titled "old silver coins", probably explaining the low price-.. sadly i sold it too, it was the first to go (for 35€), i wasn't very familiar with how grading work -am still not desu- so i might ended up selling it for below it's real value, but the guy immediately proposed me the price i paid for the entire lot so i was happy to oblige back then.

I'll keep your technics in mind, i'm following a dude on yt who do that for old roman coins and i find his videos really relaxing to watch, i share in case you might be interested :

As you dont know, demand for physical silver is at an all-time low with industrial usage near zero (photography etc). However, demand for paper silver is at an eleven-year high. What gives?

Given that physical silver demand is crashing it would seem logical that demand for paper silver would be crashing too. Nope. In fact, demand for COMEX paper silver and ETFs is now at eleven-year highs.

So what does this signal for price?

Nearly record low levels of contract open interest clearly indicate a stunning lack of usage from industry and affiliated traders. Low open interest indicates that bank trading desk demand is at a low. Further, hedging demand from silver producers is also at a minimum. All of this can be seen on the latest Commitment of Traders report from the CFTC.

It's noteworthy, of course, that the total contract open interest number has fallen to this low just as the Oct23 contract went "off the board" and into delivery. However, in periods of average speculative demand, a great amount of contract open interest simply rolls from the expiring front month (in this case, the Oct23) into the new front month (the Dec23). The sharp drop-off in direct rolls shines the light on the abysmal current level of speculative demand.

It's that speculative demand that we need to watch going forward. Right now, silver isn't even on the "speculative radar". And why would it be when other trades like AI, Bitcoin, and the NASDAQ are currently so popular?

However, history and experience has taught that silver—and just about every other commodity—tends to find a price top when speculative interest is at a minimum. Right now, judging by the open interest total, speculative interest is near an all-time low. While this does not mean that price is immediately headed lower, it does suggest that the upside from here is limited.

it's still a common misconception. I don't know how people confuse metals and stocks as asset classes. If you're going to buy stocks -- buy famous companies like Hermes or Google. If you're into metals -- buy real metals like gold, silver, platinum, etc.

There are people that genuinely don't understand that gold mining companies are an entirely different asset class from owning actual physical gold.

The merchants say that the jr mining companies are going to overcome the esg fud and VASTLY outpreform the physical assets. These are also the same people who say that when these equites do a 40x, the gubment is also going to bail in their money into the system and loose it anyway, but totally invest in these companies. We burgers only have Hecla. I'm not too studied on the miners overall, but I'd prob buy them and Cameco if I wasn't completely physical metal holder schizo tier.
My knowledge of the markets comes from listening for the past few months, to like 3 hrs a day of analysis and slowly learning what tlt's and bond math is. I couldn't be anywhere near where I am if I didn't work this job where I can listen to podcasts all day. >> No.56548656

The best part of physical wealth is not having counterparty risk. History has proven that banking crises are resolved with a revaluation of gold as this is a sure-fire way to forcefully inject inflation into the system. When gold went from $20.67 to $35 per ounce many people got robbed blind because essentially the bank was able to transfer their losses onto the people and because they held the gold they transferred resources and purchasing power to themselves.
Banks will do this again and we;ll have exposure to those unfortunate gains. This is why banks hold gold, because despite their other holdings losing value to interest rate fluctuations destroying value of debt instruments/assets, the gold sits idly by ready to act as the buffer to keep all banks afloat when necessary.

yes, exactly
>Does the "$200,000,000" refer to the estimated value of ore reserves remaining in the Leadville district, or the value of everything mined up to that point?
dollar value of everything mined up to that point. I think we've probably doubled that number since then, but to put it in perspective, they mined in the first ten years about the same amount as we've mined in the 130 years since.

Regarding how much is left in the ground, it's probably about as much as they pulled out. But they took all the cheap and easy ore, so what's left hasn't been worth mining since then and I doubt it'll be worth it in my lifetime anyways. Most of it is underwater and under people's houses, including my house. Also under EPA restrictions. So we got a few billion dollars in silver and gold that won't get mined as long as people live here and the feds have anything to say about it. Not really a loss since we make more money off tourism than we did off mining I think.

Love the old lithos, that old programme is cool as hell. I also love the old advertising. I collect that stuff too.

Being the reserve currency gives us far more flexibility to fudge the system and being on the disadvantaged side of the world reserve currency they can see the full scope of what is going on. Most Americans think our prosperity is linked to our "freedom" without really considering the mechanisms that prop up our economy. All they know is that when the market crashes it recovers better than before. All they know is asset prices increasing. It's been this way for as long as any of us have been alive, so why take drastic action to shield yourself here and now of all times? People all stopped working in 2020 and that didn't break the system so what will? It sure seems impervious, does it not?
It's due to happen eventually, that much is for certain. When the dam breaks it will happen all at once though. And Americans will be the last to see it.

I'll agree about doom posting, but preparing for things instead of reacting to them is arguably the basic premise of these generals lol. I don't wanna be one of the idiots fighting over toilet paper, or worse, when the next shitty situation happens.

You have your metals in/on the ground, and many of us have our #10 cans of dried foods, crates of ammo, and cigar boxes of silver at the ready lol. None of us are really losing anything. It's just insurance.

I agree that it is hard to make the case of monetary malfeasance without indulging in doom-posting. Anyone attempting to sound the alarm is bound to sound like a chicken-little screaming the sky is falling.
I think the correct course of action is to earmark a portion of your net worth in to PMs and you can still invest in other things such as a 401k, insurance etc.

What breaks the dam is the payment system running into shortfalls the government and fed needing to monetize the shortage of tax receipts. The ultimate demise comes from inflation and the masses pivoting away from the paper-ponzi and buying into real-world wealth. The financial system can contain an ungodly amount of purchasing power in the form of paper assets. However if that system is unable to contain your deferred-consumption then it will be flowing into physical wealth. Why hold blue chips if the ROI is unable to maintain purchasing power relative to inflation? If commodities rise and are beneficiaries then people will start getting more dynamic in their investment decisions. Local coin shops and dealers don't have enough inventory to service everyone is the masses all move at once. That alone is panic inducing.

Are you saying you think the central banks are going to abandon fiat and CBDCs and remonitize gold?

You really think normies are going to flock to coin shops instead of just clicking a few buttons in Fidelity to reallocate some of their money from index funds to a gold ETF?

In regards to the first one he's saying the banking system can't make everyone whole. Arbitrary numbers here, but if 60% of depositors all asked for 75% of their money at any given bank it's more likely than not they would be unable to fulfill the withdrawal requests. Tax receipts just means dollars.

The government operates on tax receipts. We literally take in money and dispense it elsewhere on other programs. We don't just have infinite-money to spend. Not sure why I need to explain this, but ok.
You know that legally people have access to things like Medicare and Social Security. If we don't have the money to pay out these programs then they can't just conjure it up out of nowhere. They literally borrow it from the Fed. Tax receipts earmarked for these programs literally fund these programs. People don't just randomly miss their SS payments.
When people do work for cash they have options on what to do with that purchasing power. If they invest it in a bank or bonds or stocks they are deferring their consumption. If you go out and spend that money on goods and services then you are consuming. But what if someone wanted to defer consumption without giving their money to a bank or wallstreet? They end up buying gold and silver. If all payments made for retirement, insurance etc is diverted towards real-world stores of value (because inflation eats you alive in stocks and bonds) then the economy has no chance in hell of procuring those rare goods on a sufficient scale to satisfy everyone at current price points.
Simple stuff, really.

>> No.56550405

>>56550353
The bond market is literally twice the size of the U.S. GDP representing an impossible amount of deferred consumption. This is why it is iladvised to be investing large sums of money in the system because it is physically impossible to actually be paid back.
On average almost everyone invested put in more work, effort, labor and resources into their deferred consumption than they will get back out of it. Fact.

I don't think the collapse of the American empire is the "end of the world", although it will be the end of an era of American global financial dominance and bullying and the result will be a painful pullback in American standard of living.

Every empire that ever existed has fallen. Every con game that ever existed has unraveled. The American empire and global monetary rugpull is no exception. If you think otherwise, you are delusional. It will not last forever. It absolutely is a question of when, not if. Therefore, since it's life is finite, as a matter of pure logic, every day that the empire doesn't end is one day closer to its end.

I've been craving a gold 10 yen for so long, but on Feebay they're like $900+ each, not easy to justify when it's not even 1/4oz of gold.

I assumed getting some silver might be easier, I know they put out a decent amount of lower purity silver coinage, but I guess they don't have the concept of stacking junk silver like in the US, because even finding that is like pulling teeth.

It's a shame, if the japs put out a series of gold and silver bullion it would sell on the PMs market like hotcakes. I'll have to settle for my single 80% silver 50 sen.

For most of Japanese history, they had a semi-barter economy. I say "semi" because rice was used to some extent as a currency. Some Chinese coins circulated, but not widely. Then the Tokugawa started minting coins of silver and bronze. But the content was not maintained in a stable way AND many of the daimyo warlords issued their own. So the currency situation was a terrible mess. With the Meiji restoration in 1868 things got better, but there were still problems with circulating bank notes, some pure fiat and some tied to silver or eventually gold. They finally got around to a full gold standard, following the LMU model, but a century of war dethroned it.
