Depends on personal needs. I would say with an unlimited budget you'd probably be better off getting a Mac Studio as a home computer and an Air to take around with you.
Most people who get an M3 Pro Max will probably just be using it as a desktop 99% of the time.
Either way I'm looking forward to upgrade from my intel pos.

Macs are easy to use if you are already familiar with UI. While they are intuitive, they are overpriced and do have limitations on performance.

I use mostly Appe products for personal use and Windows for business. Cost benefit shows that I get better performance to cost with non-Apple products.

Getting a $1500 mac compared to a $1500 windows computer will generally get you better performance from the windows but longevity with the mac. My last mac went strong for 8 years before it fried whereas I go through windows every two years.

Using Macs for business would depend on what your business is. If you’re doing photo/video/audio production and editing, Mac would be the sensible choice and would likely get better performance due to prioritization by the developers. A decent amount of people also prefer Macs for programming, but there’s not a big advantage over Windows or Linux.

I still run an M1 mbp and I can't imagine I'd need any more speed than what this gives. Plus being able to work writing code for a full day in airports, cafes or while wild camping really is a lifestyle flex.

True but my employer provisioned an M2 Pro Max for me with all the company spyware installed on it to make sure I'm not slacking off. They won't really be able to tell the difference between the "space gray" and "space black" if I were to bring in my own laptop and plug it in to the screen the provided.
