I can't imagine anyone would've been surprised to read that a portfolio of 50% SOXL backtested in a massive bull run achieved 50% of the performance of a portfolio of 100% SOXL.
However on a forward basis, probably more accurate to say you're lighting all your money on fire.

There's some true alpha showing up in a monthly rebalanced 50/50 SOXL/SOXS short though. Put that 200% cash exposure into something like FLOT. Great sortino, no major drawdowns, decade long return profile similar to SPY, but with no annual drawdowns exceeding 2% loss.
Just pure, uncorrelated alpha.

Well admittedly it was due to it once upon a time being part of GE. Basically GE merged its oil and gas unit with Baker Hughes and kept a majority stake in it. Later when GE fell apart and died due to Culp I kept the BKR shares I had. I sold my GE at 114 during the break apart surge news last year. I'm up decently on BKR. They've also hiked the divvy and done buybacks. I was a GE shareholder during the final days of them still being a great company. Transportation, Healthcare, Lighting, Power, Oil/gas (BKR),Aviation, Aviation services. The only part I wasn't around for was when the appliances unit was still with the company.
