I'm financially illiterate and just inherited $1.2mil.

What is the braindead method of making this money work for me?

Do I dump 1 mil in some dividend like SCHD and live off the payments and never think about a buck again?

Yeah take like 200k and go live like an absolute king in some SEA country for a few years while the rest of it grows in dividend stocks or index funds or whatever. Go bang SEA monkeys for a bit, come back, marry a zoomer roastie and live happily.

Pretty much. Drop in 1 million, pay off your debts if any with part of the other 1 million, punt some into an emergency fund. Then just do fuck all for the rest of your life. Or you could do a split. 1 million in SCHD, 500k into VOO or other S&P fund and let it roll untouched. Just don't go nuts with it and end up ass broke.

If you're truly illiterate take it to an investment firm and have them handle it for you.

Put it all on the SP500 and liquidate 3% yearly and live off that. You will never run out of money while making some money.

This. You will have an excess of spending money while still growing wealthier. Why would you do anything else?

You can get 7% a year with next to 0 risk. 7% of 1.2 mil a year is 80k a year just from existing (discounting inflation losses).

$1.3M is a lot and I can't imagine how much I'd get in APY if staked into one of SpoolFi's less risky vault.
