The problem with stock "news" is it's a double unknown. You don't know what the news is gonna be and you don't know how the market is gonna react either way. The best way to incorporate news into your process is just anticipate that *something* will happen. You don't know what that something will be but assume whatever it is it will fuck over the largest number of people. Earnings could have been shit and the stocks shot way up. The post hoc explanation by crammer would be "bad news is good news" muh pivot narrative. It just doesn't matter the market is gonna do the unexpected so your best bet is to ignore the contents of the news and just focus on the magnitude of impact. Earnings season was gonna kick something off and it just happened to be the drop in tech stocks and rally in everything else

Japan's economy is fundamentally weak because their population is too old. Old people don't work and need lots of healthcare etc. They're currently surviving on deficit spending which is why their national debt is 260% of their GDP (for comparison, US national debt is around 120% of GDP).

The last thing they want is higher interest rates. Both because of their government debt and because anything that slows down their economy could be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

After that, you can ease off the dicksucking a little bit.”
Why is this advice so parroted? Especially if you're dumping it into indices, looking at $100K's performance in the market is just unimpressive. Sure, it'll get you somewhere if you make big, successful, high-reward plays. If you're just buy-and-holding the indices, etfs blue chips... well, you can wait a few decades and boy it'll be worth something. Big whoop. I'll be old and have burnt my life wage-cucking by then, in what world is it okay to let off the gas? I need more principal if I ever want to get anywhere in any reasonable time. I don't get why $100,000 is sold as the magic benchmark number.

Here's a pro tip for all you dip buyers. When the market is correcting, don't buy the very thing responsible for the correction cuz that's the thing that's likely to keep dropping. Just like you didn't want to buy low interest rate treasuries, retail stocks or consumer discretionary stocks at the beginning of 2022 since those are the most responsible for the inflation, you didn't want to buy tech stocks during the dot com crash and you damn sure didn't want to buy financial or real estate stocks in 2008. DO NOT buy the dip in tech stocks. You want to find something that is the exact opposite of what's causing the dip yet is also dipping in sympathy and buy that. Right now that is healthcare. Buy UNH for example. Or if you need an ETF look at XLV or CURE for that sweet leverage decay
