Why shouldn't I buy precious metals?

>> No.56467922

Man, I've never seen FUD to the extent that has been happening in /pmg/ threads, lately.
Nobody is going to just sit in threads all day, posting hundreds of posts about how good metals are as an investment, getting into simultaneous arguments with people and making pathetic attempts at memes all day for weeks on end, just out of the goodness of their hearts, to try and help people make a good investment.
There is definitely money behind the FUD shills, they have been employed by (((coin dealers)) who want people buying silver, in particular.
They've even started making multiple threads to disrupt /pmg/ cos they couldn't use arguments and were unable to make the threads unbearable (despite a lot of effort on their part).
The only conclusion that can be drawn is that we are over the target.

This is incorrect because what came before overlayed a functional economy. It was well capitalized and the system basically parasitically consumed what was already here. You can't jump start that system no more than you could use a banker or an accountant to help you get off of a desert island.

The economy will be rebuilt on savings, production and nothing else.

sluggish demographic growth, more expensive medicine, and longer lifespans means that people's medicare/SS benefits are ballooning while tax receipts are stagnating. the US is now spending more on SS/medicare than those taxes earmarked for that purpose are taking in. do you really want to be paying 20-30% of your paycheck on SS taxes? there is an inverse relationship between national income and social spending as a % of GDP

yes, just as people entering the economy have to start by bartering, then move to wampum, then metals, then dollars, then finally debt

in real life all you need are numbers on screen, and a willingness of people to believe in them. The current economy has had no connection to the fiat money supply for longer than you've been alive, and replaced a connected economy in a single year with only the slightest attempt to make it appear they were connected.

younger generations have very good short term reasons not to get married, hold a job for decades, leave their parent's houses, or buy a house.

there are some very good reasons not to do any of that. But it also means you're abandoning a financial system your grandparents set up for you to get rich like they did. And that's fine.
but since no better system has ever existed, whatever they choose to replace this one with will be either exactly the same, or much worse.

there has never been a good time in human history to be some weirdo that never dates, never goes out, never works, and never supports themselves. Those people have never thrived, and often they simply didn't survive.

And the bond market collapsing and toppling the banks and wallstreet you believe there will be a willingness to believe this? Maybe after a couple generations. Those who lived through the Great Depression didn't trust banks again for the rest of their lives and they lived to see their wealth stolen by 69% when gold was revalued.

boomers care intensely about social security. you're not going to be able to take it away from them, they think they're owed it because they've paid into it their whole lives (and they're not wrong). gen X is the pissed off generation since they're the first to carry the burden of a generation larger than they are (71.6M vs 65.2M) and they recognize this isn't sustainable.

Baby boomers think they'll cover half their pre-retirement income with social security. This is delusional.
>2. they're rich
they're the wealthiest generation of all time, but they are also projected to live a lot longer. if you can make it to 65, SS projects you'll live another 17 years. it was ~13 when SS was first introduced. couple that with the fact that medical advancements have inflated health care costs 3x faster than all other goods combined, and that wealth may not be as much as they need. if the US had a functioning healthcare system like most other first world countries, that 17 years would be more like 20-25.

they still wouldn't be fine with getting rid of social security now because they need current SS tax revenue to pay for the SS benefit. it would be politically impossible to cut future benefits without also cutting taxes now, so it stays. if they were to get rid of SS, they'd need a massive COVID-sized bailout to keep current workers from revolting--the same way most companies got rid of their pensions in the GFC.

Now he became way too fucking greedy.
He doesn't even need to, we all know he produce more than the preorders figures he claims so he can sell on the secondary market for $250...

Look at the gilded version, there is almost no gold plating anywhere and he's charging 20 extra for that? What's his margin on this? $23 for the blank, $5 for the mint, then he pocket between 35-50 bux per oz depending on the version? x800 = for an easy 32K + all the extras he'll discretly sell post release on ebay at 200+?

Is that how we get rewarded for continuously supporting his work and buying his rounds? Mintanon, you call us "frens", but frens respect each others, and it's not the impression i get when you charge more each time with no valable reason. You know lot of the anons here have a limited budget..

Hell no.
I have PM mining stocks that are my go-to for peeling off profits.
If your stack is large enough to where you can set some aside to sell in the event of a hyperbolic "blow off top" then by all means you do you.
For me? I think we are sort of a pre-ponzi era where everything we have priced in PMs is laughably cheap. People casually spend $25 on a night out on beer and food, and if you hold that value up to the fundamental analysis of silver I think we can start to see the absurdity shine through of the valuations here.
The question reverts back to this? How can it be that GLOBAL silver production can not provider 3ounces of silver PER AMERICAN (not the rest of the world, not to business or w/e.) But 3 ounces of silver only costs $75. ???
This only makes sense because bank credit has purchasing power. This only makes sense because the bond market props up insurance, stocks, real estate, and money markets. ALL of the paper-ROIs you earn consistently soaks up demand to take pressure off real-world commodities. If these systems collapse in any way and stop absorbing purchasing power and people look for alternatives such as silver the game is exposed overnight.
The plebs taking their money and giving it to Wallstreet and expecting a ROI is what keeps the game running. Your paycheck earns you 1oz of gold every 2 weeks, and you save and save and save and you put 10oz of gold in the vault. But after the great deleveraging and you want to spend you cash you will find you only have 1oz of gold worth of purchasing power.
People will look at their houses worth $1M in peak-ponzi and say "do you know many KILOS of gold that was worth? Do you know how many OUNCES of silver that would be?"
The Euphoric math of BtC will apply just as much to gold and silver. It sounds absurd but the bond market is absurd. It can't be paid back and that's a problem that can't be solved without losses. It's a fact. Your money is not in the bank in quantities that you think it is

Modern misery can be traced back pretty clearly to when silver and gold left our money. The decline in the standard of living, resulting in lower birth rates.
The government being able to print infinite dollars to fund whatever Evil pet project meets their whim.
The end of silver in our money was the beginning of this absurd decadence of the elites.

Within my lifetime a man could have lived his entire life off of the interest on just $200,000. It would be a humble life but he could sustain himself.

It is in their interest to expand their product not just to productive investments such as business but all the way down to credit cards so you can buy a hamburger. Capital and credit are both fungible, and reckless expansion of credit has stimulative impacts on the economy. However the interest bearing nature of credit ensures that it creates drag and inefficiencies in the economy as it soaks up more and more resources. It is no surprise the 1% are running away with all of the money for this very reason.
Work and human capital are precious and THE SOLE driving factor of an economy. A suitcase full of cash buys nothing on a remote desert island. It is only through productive work that wealth is created. Banking is the eternal middle-man. A monopoly that needs to be controlled by a patriarch whose power can be harnessed for good of all much like a public utility.
Private bankers and that whole class justly deserve to be routed and disposed of and whose secrets are some of the most nefarious on earth. It is best to think of bankers as people born next to an opium field. Their product is a menace and it is better to burn the fields and destroy them all than let them get out of control ever again.

The Dollar is pegged to Gold and Silver, the Dollar is a substitute for PMs

This is flat out wrong. Most people with cash to spare have some kind of investment, even if it's just a savings account or money market account at their bank. It's not like you have to open an account at Fidelity or Vanguard to do investments.
In addition, many people have some 401k or equivalent retirement account sponsored by their employer.
And f rom my experience, if you have any decent size bank account, one of the bankers will contact you and try to nudge you into some kind of investment. This works on normies because they trust their banker and financial advisor. I don't (for obvious reasons), so I buy physical silver and gold.

I lost three 40% halves that I scammed an old lady out of at a flea market and finally found them again yesterday.
She wanted $5 for them and thought they were clad so I offered $3.50 for them and she reluctantly accepted.
But she sells 90% halves for $25 so who's the real scammer?

commems are one of our favorite categories. LCS owners are usually esoteric collectors. We tend to love weird stuff like commems and tokens and scrip and such. Stuff you guys might not think of as coin collecting. Pure numismatics.
