I worked for a number of startups ans got laid off several times for budgeting/investment reasons. My resume makes me look like I'm job hopping. How do I fix this? Do I just combine them all under one job?

Say you've been a self-employed consultant for all these companies and those were your stints at them. Say you preferred to be a W2 employee instead of a 1099 for tax and health insurance reasons. Say each one was an intense non-stop grind and you did 3 years worth of work experience in 6 months.
