Bitcoins value goes up 8%, but since you have an 10x leverage, your investment goes up 80% to 180 dollars (100 x 1.8)

Conversely, if Bitcoins value goes down 8%, your 100 USD investment drops 80% to 20 dollars from your original 100 (100 x 0.2)

Also, use your brain; If you are now down to 20 dollars, at this point a 8% increase in BTC value with 10x leverage does not get you back to your original 100 dollars, it takes you up to 36 dollars (20 x 1,8) meaning your initial investment can go poof

Thank you for your response, anon. I'm guessing that if the price of Bitcoin falls too low then I'll likely get all my collateral liquidated and I'll pretty much lose it all, right? In all honesty that's what makes it intimidating to me when compared to simple spot trading. If you're down, you just have impermanent loss but with this stuff any mistake can cost you a whole fortune.

The reason leverage works is because the odds are against you - Its some Casino tier shit where you think you are beating the system when its really heavily gamed against you, and the hubris of suckers who think they can time this fuels the money wheel. I don't fuck with this personally since it seems all to easy to lose it all.

A more cautionary tale of this might be the following; Imagine you go up 9% with a x10 leverage and end up with 190 dollars on your original 100 dollar investment. You don't sell, you hold hoping for moar, and guess what? Suddenly BTC drops back 9% the next day. Here's the kicker; Your 190 dollars just dropped down to 19 dollars due to your x10 leverage.

Remember; A loss cannot be offset by an equally large gain
