I have a contract for one year in a hotel in Ireland and basically I'm fed up and I want to quit. In the contract, however, they had something like: If you leave before _____ you have to pay X amount of money for the training

It was 100% of the money spent on your training if you left before 3 months, 75% after 3 months and so on

The thing is that the date as well as the amount of money were blank in the contract, nothing appeared there

Can they make me pay something if I leave?

no just leave

Lol. You’re basically fucked.
The place I worked at got some Koreans in. They basically held the passport hostage and when one of them got an attitude they were sent home and had to pay for everything including their accomodation for weeks while they were contracted.
Keep quiet, seek legal advice. A contract with blanks is questionable. If they’re as shit as they sound you may have a case to compel them to pay you more.

What if I agree to leave in good terms? I have screenshots and conversations about the contract, maybe I can leave while keeping my cool and all. That way they might not fuck me over, right? I also I'm already paying for their accomodation

They can't make you pay if they can't find you. Hide out in the woods until you figure they have gotten busy with something else.

For sure amicable or friendly is best.
But I’d still look at an initial consolation from a no win no fee lawyer. I’m sure there’s someone whole do a 15/30min introductory evaluation. Triple check they won’t charge you but I’m sure you could find advice.

How sure are you about your legal standing for asking or demanding anything? You seem to think there’s leverage of some kind?

But defiantly get them to clarify their contact terms if you’re unclear on them, there may be something you’ve forgotten/referred to elsewhere. But if it is shady and they suspect you’re onto them you’ll be a fall guy.

Yeah... for now the best course of action I'd say is trying to quit in a friendly manner because they could try to fuck me up. I mean I have proof that the contract was blank as well as collegues who signed the same contract but if I can avoid going trhough it I will, the ideal scenario would be me leaving without paying some deduction because I have no idea what amount of money those fuckers could include there

I just mean sure the contact is blank. So what anon.
Don’t you remember this disclosure you filled out here where we outlined xyz?
We’ve already informed you.

Biggest thing is how long have you been there? How much was the training?
Normally they’ve put stuff in contract regarding training deductions for 6 months. Did they do any onboarding or anything?

Lol don’t listen to these loser talking about lawyers and shit, just leave nothing will happen they will instantly forget about you and not chase a single thing

I've been there for a little more than 2 months and all the training I did was some class of how to lift boxes properly to avoid an injury and that's it reallt. I'm a waiter but I think the training lasted... 1 or 2 weeks?

They didn't specify it in any way shape or form but some manager said ''we are way past the training'' so I assume it lasted around 2 weeks

Just leave, box lifter. They will replace you pretty much instantly, it's just a way to scare you into submission since most people who work these jobs are clueless (the reason this thread exists for example). literally.

Wait Yuropoors have to pay money to their employer in order to leave a job? Hahahaha what the fuck lmao. Toss your boss a quarter on the way out and tell him to keep the change.

Yeah I think their two weeks notice over there is more like three months and they are liable to be fined if they just up and quit. The indentured servitude is a tradeoff for the free healthcare or some shit.

Just write in 0s, problem solved.
