Also the Mexican banks are paying 18.3ish pesos per USD, but the actual exchange rate is currently 17 pesos to a USD. The exchange rate was right around 20:1 in the spring. depends on the coin and how long you plan on holding it, but usually no. Modern bullion coins in particular are made by the millions, and often millions of them get graded right out of the box. So in those cases it's not always a great deal.

hard to say for sure though. Some modern slabbed stuff has done a 3-5x in a matter of a couple years if people love it enough. Usually rarer stuff with a great design.

Not the geology bro but I’m the other anon into rocks lmao. If you’re really trying to flex go with Alexandrite it’s super rare and actually changes colors depending on the lighting. A good stone, full luster, clear, and FULL color shifting from blue to red to purple, should cost around $5k/ct. Incredibly rare gemstone, the earth simply did not make a lot of it.

Tanzanite is beautiful, as are natural blue topaz, both are good alternatives. When buying stones, especially for jewelry, always specify NO heat treatment. Blue diamonds are also an option, but personally plain carbon is boring to me and it’s not the rarest stone out there even. Use diamond to beat accent color. Low end of the blue colors might be particular amethysts, but they just tend to lean purple.

You might want to consider and Australian kookaburra or a Somali elphamt too if you like animal coins with different designs each year. Wheaties for me. But I was thinking about getting a small induction furnace as a hobbie. I have like ~3ish pounds of waste copper wire I stripped and balled up sitting in my garage. I know I’d likely use more money in materials and electricity than I would get from selling the bars, but it would be a fun process and to have my own home made and hand polished Cu bars would be awesome.

They have some sets online with a furnace, crucibles, tongs, etc. that go for like $3-500 depending on the size. That was at a quick glance tho, I want to avoid chink shit so that it doesn’t explode on me, so I’d have to explore brands and sizes more. But like I said it would be more of a learning experience and hobby than it would be a money making endeavor.

Pandas have pretty serious premiums. I’ve been able to only get a decent deal once at a PM shop where I got a variety of dates for around 29-30$ each but I have no idea why. Boomer shop owner, maybe. Pandas and libertads are some of the few coins I stack yearly because of this. I used to do kooks as well but I hate the King so that’s kinda stopped.

Definitely, yes. Just look at their prices on APMEX (the have the best selection of pandas in the US). Also, my LCS always prices pandas with a pretty high premium (both for silver and the gold). If I were to sell a fractional gold panda to either, I'd expect to get more than the same weight of say a gold eagle. Just look at picrel how the 2006 1/10 oz cost more than a number of 1/4 or 8g coins. Fortunately, I'm not that autistic in my panda stacking that I have to have everything, so I tend to just get whatever I can find for a normal panda price.

If you want to see real prices you have to look at what shops are willing to drop for offered coins. Usually it's just a bit over spot, so to them the coin is worthless. A low spread, high price coin is rare, but worth looking into.

Yeah but it doesn't look like he bought a set. You can buy those fancy boxes alone for 20 euros. Then you just buy the coins whenever you can find them at a decent price. Which granted is kinda hard to do with very old years.
I didn't buy any boxes, and I have lots of trouble finding old coins, so I don't. I just buy whatever coins I can find without spending tons of money. So I've only got like 5 kooks and elephants, all from recent years. Oh and 3 pandas.
