I just got a lump sum of about $20k that was unexpected. I opened a Roth IRA and maxed it out and I will max it out again once the new year starts.

Someone explain to me why I shouldn't just plow this money all into VOO, GOOGL, AAPL, and MSFT.

Inflation has come back down, fed is done hiking, unemployment remains at 50 year lows, GDP numbers are coming in higher than expected, banks are reporting higher than expected earnings. I would not be surprised if we have a recession in the next 2-3 years but like I wouldn't bet on one in the next 6 months.

What if a world ending catastrophe never comes and things keep on a more or less normal progression? I mean this exact portfolio would be up like 35% ytd.
