Cryptos problem is liquidity on low caps but the % moves are so huge they make up for it.
I trade stocks and reits too and crypto makes those markets gains look tiny

I trade markets outside crypto. I do really well. I can trade almost any market once I get used to it so I don't know if I'd say one is easier than the other broadly speaking. I think the weirdest shit I've traded has been silver and bonds honestly. They both move really strangely to me and I could never seem to really pin their moves down reliably, so I don't even bother trading them anymore. I also hate the community around silver. Bond people can be pretty awful too, but you can get some decently sophisticated people there.

I've seen forex perps available and have been tempted to mess around with them. I thought its possible I could some as a hedge on my BTC longs.

I also noticed that you can also use them to snatch arbitrage between BTC/USD, BTC/EUR, BTC/JPY, EUR/USD, JPY/USD

When there are disparities in spot pricing you can use the perps and the market general tends to move towards efficiency and capturing those arbitrage plays. You aren't moving the market you are just betting that the market will do it for you which will make your positions profitable.
