Yeah it's quite ridiculous. My mom probably outperforms everyone here with her insanely low averages on tech stocks. The way the market exploded, even Apple provides good divvies provided you bought 15 years ago.
Imagine those that bought Exxon when it Covid-crashed. They are getting so much divvies, it's insane.
And here I am, only having started investing ever since the end of 2021 (quite literally the worst time to start DCAing and investing) but I just didn't care about it. Dumbass me. I will never outperform my mum, regardless of how well I invest now

I collected unemployment for two years one time. At the time I was supposed to apply for two jobs a week, and almost never did. About 14 months into it they called me and audited me, and they picked some random week a few weeks before that as the week I had to prove.

I had to fill out a form showing who I applied with, for what position, what the results were, how far I got in the process, etc along with any prior or correspondence, emails saying I didn't get tht job, who I talked to and all that Info and fax or email it to some black bitch state auditor worker.

By some miracle, that week was the ONLY week I actually applied for two jobs in a single week. I emailed the firm and all evidence and never heard back from them.
TLDR: I really got lucky and dodged a bullet there

It's bullish for stocks and that's all that matters. You guys seem to make the mistake of thinking economy = stock market. A lot of the personnel is useless or contributes very little so it's fine to lay them off and increase profits that way.

Over 4x of that total return is directly from multiple expansion. lol. Pull back out that multiple expansion and it's underperforming the S&P.
You have to backtest against the past decade because you know what happens if you include the decade before that. lmao.
Next decade is sadly more likely to mirror that previous 10 year stretch, while comping against heightened inflation too.

Reread my last post. If you want to keep replying to me with this absolute cope then I'll continue laughing at you.
The unfortunate truth is that dividend investors tend to average approximately 90 IQ. With exception for the small minority sitting 2 standard deviations above the mean, most dividend investors have poor reading comprehension. They can't understand sarcasm. Most jokes go over their tiny heads. They think that ad hominem is a legitimate debate tactic.
They legitimately believe that dividends are a signal which offers fundamental insights towards the future potential of a companies prospects - and really I think that says it all.

For every MSFT, there are 5 other bombed out shitcos that used to be dividend aristocrats, until one day suddenly they weren't anymore...
Meanwhile you're missing out on massive segments of the investable universe. At least you're outperforming the bond investors I suppose. lol.

GE was so, so stable. lmao. Then 2017 happened. Where's that divvy growth now?
Need I name more?

I'm sorry that your little brain is incapable of looking at more than one metric. It's quite unfortunate that you're incapable of reading an income statement to see fundamental real growth, and instead are forced to rely on some magical dividend number that we all know has definitely never been manipulated at all by sketchy businesses to draw in suckers like you.
I could go on all day if you want. The list of failures that your cult has chased and held as they flung off the precipice into that pit of doom that they call dividend cuts appears seemingly endless throughout the years.

The market has been going down since July. Most likely it swings up october-november, then shits the bed in december, little pumpy in january and then a shittastic shittening in february-march where it bottoms out.

Wall Street will call this dump to 12k on the NDAP a recession, the Fed will call it healthy pullback, you will call it iron hands hodl as you throw more money into your monetarily decreasing portfolio.

The market will bull up again to 14,000 come july 2024 but continue to be shitty into september 2024 going back to 13,000 before the BIDEN BONANZA begins and the market makes a giant 20% gain between September 25th, 2024 to 15,600 and November 3rd, 2024. It will then have another healthy widdle pullbackarino to 14,000 as all the turmpie stocks dumpie like in 2020. Jim Brandon will assume his term in January 2025, then resign for 'health reasons' in September 2025 allowing Kamloops to run the country into the group for almost 12 years, leaving office as the most unpopular (but somehow, re-elected) president in 2037. By this time it will be illegal outside of red states to detain negros invading your household. White liberals will mass migrate to texas, florida and Kentucky voting for democratic politicians. By the end of president Youngkin's second term in 2045 the market will be at 50,000 and the USA will be a conservative 45% white, mostly becaise of large scale palestinian (they are white) and ukrainian migration.

Yes you do need to name more. There’s only a couple examples of dividend kings like T and GE that have turned out terribly. Now let’s check out your speculative growth strategy and see if we have any losers. Huh that’s weird only a very very very tiny fraction of stocks end up becoming 100 baggers. The fact is dividends and growth are important. You flew into a rage when I posted the 10 year history of Microsoft and why dividend growth can be a great thing.

Fears around a broader conflict in the Middle East remain but have toned down from earlier, despite Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian tweeting, after meeting counterparts in Turkey and elsewhere:
>Underlined the need to immediately stop Zionist crimes and murder in Gaza and to dispatch humanitarian aid. I stressed that time is running out for political solutions; probable spread of war in other fronts is approaching unavoidable stage.
Interestingly, he rewrote the tweet after initially writing:
>The time for political solutions is running out and the possible expansion of the war on other fronts is approaching the inevitable stage.
There is certainly some nuance there but officials from Iran have really be rattling the sabres over the past two days. Meanwhile, the US and even Russia appear to be coaxing all sides towards restraint.

I'm getting kind of tired, so instead enjoy some assigned reading:
https://seekingalpha.com/article/3901726-fate-of-49-dividend-aristocrats-of-early-1990s-may-give-you-nightmares

And before you think to yourself - maybe it's possible to simply sell when the dividend cut happens. I hope you are smart enough to understand that the collapse often happens before the dividend cut. In fact, the dividend cut often marks the bottom and creates a buying opportunity:
https://www.barrons.com/articles/when-dividend-aristocrats-lose-their-status-their-returns-often-improve-51581592501

While it's not an aristocrat, this same trend was witnessed just this year with INTC. The fact is that dividend investors are relatively unintelligent, and their portfolios along with the passive dividend ETFs tend to become forced sellers when companies cut the divvy. Forced selling is more often than not a buying opportunity. It's like when a store has a closing sale - all merch must go, at any price.
You are willfully paying a fools premium, when the whole goal is to get a discount.

>Huh that’s weird only a very very very tiny fraction of stocks end up becoming 100 baggers.
This, again, displays your complete lack of knowledge. The nature of outperformers is that eventually they will grow into a larger percentage of your overall portfolio until the point where they control your entire performance. It does not matter if 99 of 100 fail. That one singular winner is enough to carry the entire portfolio to massive gains. This is the modern tech VC strategy, although to be clear I'd oppose buying dogshit ponzis with intent to flip them on unsuspecting retail investors via future SPACs/IPOs. Conceptually though, it's a solid idea.

If you're not even going to pretend to put in the effort of reading my posts, I'm just going to resume laughing at you. lol.

On the off-chance you're actually this mentally deficient:
0 x 0.9 = 0
100 x 0.1 = 10
0 + 10 = 10x (total return)

You were so hyped up over this 10x decade long MSFT return yet it turns out the literal best dividend aristocrat you can come up with matches the mathematical average performance of the blind growth investor portfolio you're shitting on.
And to be clear, I've never even been proposing that blind growth is a genius strategy. It's purely for the sake of counterargument to prove that your dividend strategy is sub par. The reality is that you should activate those sleepy braincells and think logically about what the future might hold if purchasing growth names. You should look for stocks that trade at great valuations. You should consider current valuation relative to history, relative to sector, relative to overall market. You should target profitability, as that is the one factor that really matters in the grand scheme of things. If there's a company that makes no money, and will not make money later - it is worthless.
My personal performance is well above any of these compounding rates mentioned over the timeframe I've been investing, with the exception of a long-term portfolio of 100% CELH. And I'm accounting for tax drag in my internal calculations, not the gross compounding rate that most people posting their brokerage statements hype up.

>I’m not sure what blind growth fund you’re talking about that beat Microsoft’s total return.
I just made one, using your own hypothetical assumptions. I have no obligation to find you some random public market ETF that matched your single stock. I've already given plenty of stock-to-stock examples and also the logical analysis of the venture portfolio approach.
But if you really want to make your own comparison, I'm sure SOXX did pretty well over the same timeframe, or SOXL if you really want to push the limits of growth within the ETF format.
10x over 10 years is 25% CAGR, ignoring the tax drag of dividend reinvestment. At least for MSFT the tax drag is small since it's hardly a dividend stock. But we have anons in this very thread sitting on 20x or better returns from an NVDA hold. Personally my average holding duration is not that long so my best individual position in my portfolio right now is up 600%. It is not a dividend player, nor is it even a tech stock. My holding period is 2 years.

The cool thing about KO as an example is that it was still an aristocrat in 2000, and still is today. Inevitably, you fuckers always reach the point in any divvy bro shill campaign of making the Buffett KO purchase as an example of the beauty of yield on cost. Meanwhile, it's plain to see how that investment has fared for all the buffett followers these past two decades...
See, the thing about Buffett is he's a value investor. He does not give a fuck about dividends. He bought KO in the 90s because it was cheap, and in the years since then he hasn't bought more. Even his own stock, BRK, one of the largest in the public market, does not pay a dividend - instead it utilizes buybacks. lmao.
