Stopping or slowing down before that point is a skill that took me like 20 years to develop, and I'm still not perfect at it. You either have the "If I have one then I'll have ten" gene or you don't. Some people have trouble finishing one drink. There's a TED talk that says "The opposite of addiction is not sobriety, it's connection." I've noticed that when I have good mental health and a clean room I'm less tempted to binge. It's a way of escaping reality. My advice: fill your stomach with some food high in soluble fiber and drink a shitload of water beforehand. This will make you so full that you can't accidentally drink too fast.

If you're going to be a drinker in your later years you have to mature as one. I was at a birthday party last night. First rule is avoid hard liquor period during social gatherings, stick to beer. I had 2 24 ounce beers first thing, then they broke out the taco bar and I ate 6 tacos. Then I was able to drink all night and keep my composure. We tend to avoid food when we drink to avoid killing the buzz but you have to eat to prolonged the night. I drank all night after the food and was still able to behave myself after. Take for example Deltic Energy with a market cap of 20 million, they have 2 joint ventures with Shell in 2 undrilled oil fields. But it will probably take at least 4 year until the first field actually starts producing.

Unnecessary risk. Actual high quality oil giants are trading at already pretty low EV/DACF and EV/FCF multiples to begin with, and same goes for largecaps. Already producing midcaps and smallcaps with weak margins are the way to go if you really need that leverage to oil prices, there is literally zero reason to go that far out the risk curve that you'd go for drill plays in this market.

My cash is gaining the 4.9% while auto DCAing $10 per day into FCG. You could pick a few stocks and auto DCA little bits into them instead. If I were doing that my choices would probably be XOM and DE. I've watched DE daily for a couple of years and it does a pretty good bit of swinging in a fairly wide range, always recovers from dips, so any DCA injections during those dips should boost your overall gain nicely, though I fear it might take a hard hit in a substantial market crash. Anyway, right now, due to the somewhat likely potential of such a crash, there's no way I'd start nor DCA a position with large amounts, but these small amounts while gaining that interest seems like a reasonably "safe" way to wind up growing a nice position over time. HOOD has the "Reoccurring Investment" functionality which allows you to set an amount and interval. It will then automatically INVOOST that amount at those intervals. You're "selling" the option contract to someone else (usually a market maker), hence why it's asking you to "sell" the put, with you getting paid a premium for the put you sold.

This happened to me a few months ago; I did +35P and -37P on XLF. It gapped down, and they assigned early. Got $340 to open the position, then got debited $7400 to buy 200 shares at $37. I could have exercised my 35P to sell them for $7000, putting me down $60 net. Which is what I did.
