The sad truth is there is no demand for a true DEX, no matter how good the tech is. They all have zero users, zero volume and zero liquidity. Unless Hydranet has hundred of millions of dollars for marketing and insitutional-level liquidity providers, they'll end up like AtomicDEX, BlockDX, BasicSwap and all the others.

BasicSwap has BTC-XMR atomic swaps and no one uses it yet. Unfortunately the "if you build it, they will come" mentality isn't true of crypto.

True DEX's are still brand new, cutting edge tech and as such they can be tricky for non-devs to use. With BTC-XMR atomic swaps, you need to be running wallets for each coin with the whole blockchain synced for each and then hope that there's sufficient liquidty for the pair you want to trade. That's too much work for the average joe and I think it will be years before that level of complexity can be abstracted away for the user and all DEXs need to find a solution to the lack of liquidity problem. Still, it's nice to know these things exist, even in their early stages, so that there is an emergency alternative to kyc everywhere.

It's not that complex if you are a regular DEX
trader, there is simple swap option. The thing is when every exchange wants KYC, adoption will be faster. But as you said it may take time. Early investors will get all the prize.

It sucks, but that's true of literally every atomic DEX project out there. They all ICO'd in 2017 and it took 5-6 years for them to develop something functional. People forget how early we are – this is cutting edge, first of its kind technology and we're still several years out from where it will be easy enough to use for mass adoption.

no, not "literally yes". it literally DOESN'T EXIST. all they showed in the demo was a fucking web wallet that was being run on localhost, most of the features were not even usable, it barely even did anything.

This is the same bullshit "promises" of some ridiculous impossible tech to string along idiots that fall for it, the same way I fell for the DEX meme these past 2 years.

as a reasonable counterpoint I kind of understand whats going on with the design. they injected a LN compatible process into the web browser which allows the LN to be called into websites. technically speaking its the same architecture we have now but a different pane of glass. A shift for this isn't a big deal since the architecture already exists and is now well understood by the team
