I used to be a big drinker and smoker.

Then last year I made 5 gallons of wine from wild yeast and homegrown grapes. Good, natural alcohol isn't quick or easy to make and once you taste it you'll realize sterilized alcohol is garbage. There is basically zero connection between modern alcohol and the alcohols our ancestors enjoyed and benefited from, its just brain impairing.

So to further my mind altering hobbies, this year I've spent 6 months tending a cannabis plant from a seed. I went all natural, pesticide free, and grown in soil with sunlight as it's power source. It's drying right now.

Becoming one with nature like our ancestors were, rather than relying on external human forces to provide for you, is very mentally freeing. I don't even really want to smoke by myself anymore, I already got chicks hitting me up congratulating me on my grow since my homies have been blabbing about it, I can probably just save it for the ladies.

Used to do liquid nutes and ended up hating it. I run a bunch of different genetics all the time and it was hard to dial in the nutes for each and every one. Flushing is a pain as well, at least for salt buildup. I would imagine it would be worth if if I was running a whole room in coco, but alas I am a smaller tent grower.

The upfront cost for organic soil growing is higher but I find that I don't get as many problems. Plus I can reuse the soil in my vegetable garden after my grows. I also find that larger pots in general increase yields, so I usually run 10 gallons. I can get 6oz easy off small autoflowers and like 9-14oz off photos this way.
