Am I just way broker than I think I am?

Every single SUV with 45,000 miles or less is at least $22k. At 9% APR you’re looking at $375/month payments. Add in $325/month insurance, $200/month of depreciation, $200/month in repairs averaged over time, you’re looking at guaranteed $1100/month for 5 years.

I make $180k/year and find it outrageous to be paying that much for transportation, yet everyone seems to have a car or two. Even a Toyota Corolla only reduces that payment by $200/month or so.

How the fuck do people do it?

If you’re stupid enough to finance without a reasonably sized down payment then you deserve the struggle. Hell, you should avoid financing at all if you can.

What’s wrong with driving a minivan? I’m 6’ 3 and every fucking car except for pickup trucks fuck with my headspace. My parents minivan didn’t so I decided to just take it along with the money for the car instead of buying a pickup truck

How can Americans pay this fucking much for this. You are being kiked. Here in Europe we pay that much PER YEAR. Seriously can any American fag explain this?

That’s about average. One of the main reasons why Europeans can live comfortable lives on a much lower salary is because they can just pay $50 for public transportation instead of $894 for a car

Are you in California? I have an at-fault accident on my record and I still only pay like $180/mo.

If you make $180k/yr and don't have kids, just go buy a brand new Toyota Corolla and get the extended warranties. Idk how tf someone is smart/skilled enough to make $180k/yr, but they can't do basic budgeting.

it could even be worst than those numbers.

You didn't include tax + tip, so that car is more like $23.5k.
Used cars are closer to 10-11%+ apr and only if you have perfect credit. I think new cars are over 8%.
insurance is the only think that was overestimated, could be only around $100-150/month for most people.
Don't forget registration $50-300 per year
Smog testing $50-100 every couple years.
and on top of all that, how fucked the car market has been. I see people bragging about buying for msrp and "didn't even have to pay extra". What a deal.

This is what usually gets me thinking. Buying a used vehicle in 1989 and insuring it was a fraction of what it costs today.

>> No.56336906

>>56336536
Most of the costs are related to financing it AKA buying more car than you can afford. Unfortunately these days the only way to get ahead of it is to buy a shitbox and fix it yourself when it breaks. That’s what I’ve been doing for the last 10 years. No finance charge, barely any insurance required, parts are cheap

stop financing. you're literally giving money to mr. shekelberg at the expense of just waiting a few more months before you can buy said item (which will be a little cheaper)

No healthcare is so expensive because

A) Medicare school is fucking ridiculous

and

B) they bill people for 500$ band aids because the government got involved

my 2011 honda fit cost $7k three years ago, in those three years I've put maybe $500 into it for maintenance and insurance is $70/month. with gas I probably pay less than $200/mo averaged. If I was so poor that I had to finance it and even factoring in depreciation (why are you doing that? just drive it into the ground dumbass, then depreciation is irrelevant) still probably would be $300/mo tops.
