If we then wonder how many people then start thinking about why this is significant in terms of decentralization, censorship resistance etc then we've probably lost another huge chunk of the population. Then there's Ethereum where we have programmable contracts that provide a "decentralized computer". How many people do you seriously think understand Ethereum, what it does, and its unique properties when compared with Bitcoin? 1% seems really generous, I honestly think it's less than 1%.

Then we bring in Chainlink. Chainlink is a protocol that allows you to compose decentralized oracle networks to provide trust-minimized computation for blockchains including things like market data for DeFi. That statement alone has unironically lost 99.9999% of the population. There's retard-tier analogies for Chainlink like "hurr it's like giving blockchains an internet connection!" but the problem with this is there's an assumption that the retard you're talking to even understands that blockchains are limited in this specific way.

Reality is these systems are far too complicated for your average normie retard to ever understand.

Hit the post limit before I could touch on this, but I do have a comment on this as well. It's not just one thing, obviously. There are a bunch of things that contribute to this overall "misunderstanding" of Chainlink.

I think the retard influence is still part of it, but there are other factions with their own self-interests that are completely at odds with the path Chainlink is on.

We have the VC faggots (which you could argue is a subset of retards), they're pretty easy to explain. They're just here to make a quick buck and dump on retail.

Then you have the people who are ideologically aligned with a specific L1 and certain narratives like having one blockchain that EVERYTHING will run on. Some of these people will understand Chainlink and why it's important, but the problem is that just because someone understands Chainlink and its significance, doesn't necessarily mean that person is going to start providing support and endorsing Chainlink. For some of these people, Chainlink is a threat to them (i.e. Chainlink's vision completely trivializes L1s, L2s, whatever, they don't think there will be a single blockchain that everything runs on). We all know about the MEV cartel. They have a set of objectives and priorities that directly conflict with Chainlink's objectives and priorities.

Regardless of how you feel about all this, I do think it's a fascinating thing to observe and see how this all plays out. I do agree that I think a lot of people are going to be in for a huge shock in the coming years with CCIP maturing.

Link was a good buy any time before 2019. If I bought thousands of Link back then for pennies, I'd be pretty excited about it too. At $7-$8, it's not very exciting. I'm not spending 17,000 fucking dollars for a "make it" stack of this shit lol go fuck yourselves baggies.
