Any sense of a paid fud conspiracy disappeared when I went on other boards and saw some of the people spamming and seething about the most inconsequential shit, like anime characters. Things where there is literally no financial incentive for someone to be obsessed.
There's clearly just a certain kind of neurodivergent person who fixates on a subject and takes a contrary position as a guaranteed form of attention seeking. That's all it is. They know they'll get (you)s, they're addicted to the validation of (you)s (probably because they get very little human contact/normal socialization irl) and that's enough for them to post contrarian takes every day.
