Im 30 and never used a credit card in my life.
Why are americans so keen to buying something on credit and paying mr. Shekel for it?

apparently it's not a credit card its a invite only charge card you have to pay a yearly tip for. so basically a debit card for people who do instagram.

And it's logical. When you have money you don't need credit.
My card is also a debit, it's just simpler when you have the money on your account.

You are aware you can use a credit card, pay off the balance immediately and not pay any fees or interest, right? It's smart to use a credit card like this. For one, if you use a debit card and the merchant steals your information and commits fraud you might get fucked in the ass. Say someone steals your debit card info and drains your bank account but you have automatic bill payments setup. You may overdraw your account or the automatic payments may not go through. You might have a mess to deal with having to call up your bank as well as the organization you were supposed to pay. With a credit card you still have to deal with a bank but in the mean time your actual money in the bank isn't fucked. Imagine your debit card isn't working anymore, your bank account is overdrawn and you have no cash? Second you can earn rewards like cash back on your credit card usage. Again you pay it off each month so you're not paying any fees or interest but you still get cash back. Now if you're some guy who only uses cash because of some personal principal I can respect. Otherwise you look real retarded up there on your high horse.

No, that's not logical.
Wealthy people use leverage and credit for everything. The whole idea is that you use other peoples money for things, not your own.

>You may overdraw your account or the automatic payments may not go through.
The same thing will happen with the monthly spending limit on your credit card, the automatic payment will get rejected, so no difference with a debit
>You might have a mess to deal with having to call up your bank as well as the organization you were supposed to pay.
Same with a credit
>Second you can earn rewards like cash back on your credit card usage.
Plenty of debit cards have cashbacks or rewards
>Imagine your debit card isn't working anymore, your bank account is overdrawn and you have no cash?
Most debit cards are not set up to allow overdrawing your account. And obviously you're supposed to have a different saving account with emergency cash, whether you have a credit card or not, so it doesn't matter.

>Wealthy people use leverage and credit for everything.
That's not true. Some do but most don't. They're not point paying interest for daily spending when you have enough cash in your account. And no safe investment will have an APR that covers credit card interests. They will use leverage for large investments, not for daily spending.

You're talking about a charge card or check card, not debit. A debit card can be used to immediately wipe out your account with no recourse for you other than the legal system. With a credit card, charge card or check card (anything using Visa, MasterCard or American Express) you almost never suffer from fraud. Not one bit. I've also never seen a debit card with rewards.

>You're talking about a charge card or check card, not debit
Maybe, I don't see the difference, it's only semantic anyway. I'm talking of a card that charge your account directly instead of automatically creating a loan with a very high rate.

You never heard of Visa debit btw? The network doesn't matter, it's not what decides if your card is a debit or a credit.

... you have to later pay the principal plus anywhere between 0 and a ridiculous interest rate
How is that using other people's money?
