To get ahead of people who take the normal road, you have to go off road and find a shortcut. The reason people don't do that is because they're scared of taking risks. You have to take a lot of risk to get far ahead. There's a couple of things that influence the amount of risk you can afford to take. Your current NW is one. Who you know is two. 3) Where you are located. 4) What your intelligence is. 5) You current skill set (learned knowledge) in a given thing. You're current health is important too. As well as your libailities (social or financial, e.g. if you have kids and if you care about their wellbeing). They're more or less the main ones. By increasimg those, you can afford to take more risks and get further ahead.
