Kek, I saw that because I'm shorting meta and was shocked too, I think that's a sign of how things are just broken so I know what you're saying. This crabbing is dysfunctional and it will break at some point. The yield curve is basically the whole story now.

The "evidence" posted
>This time, the cars were likely deserted after the ride-hailing companies that owned them failed, or because they were about to become obsolete as automakers rolled out EV after EV with better features and longer driving ranges. They’re a striking representation of the excess and waste that can happen when capital floods into a burgeoning industry, and perhaps also an odd monument to the seismic progress in electric transportation over the last few years.
>Those vehicles were mostly bought by ride-hailing companies that leased them to drivers. “At the beginning of China’s EV market, delivery numbers were driven by car-sharing fleets,” said Young Huang, a senior analyst with JSC Automotive, a consultancy with offices in Shanghai and Stuttgart. “Only a few private customers chose to buy them.”
I don't expect amerisharts to be smart but come on. As the guys says in the video, those are to a large part remnants of failed companies and aren't BYD's problem. Or they are cars that are outdated. And a huge part are non-chinese cars.

BTU is probably fine too, but there are a few issues:
It's a bit of a meme so it gets random volatility, valuation tends to be a bit higher, it's a mixed producer of met/thermal with some weird contracts, and management has made some questionable decisions.
I feel like BTU makes more sense as a swing trade than a confident hold. BTU is still stuck in the same range since 2022 while other coal stocks break new highs, propelled by buybacks. Perhaps the future will be different, but it's not like BTU is any cheaper at today's multiples vs other stocks anyway.
At least that's my understanding of the situation with BTU.

>El Niño years have very mild to hot winters
In the Northern hemisphere, which is most of the world yes. But note that for Australia and NZ el NiÑo means extreme heat and drought. Also note anon that there is an Indian ocean dipole anomaly right now that will affect the Indian subcontinent and again Australia

Finally, I agree that demand for oil is low but there is so much money that needs a place to be parked it's unreal. Investors are hoarding USD right now but they need safe places to put their money and I think they are feeling like oil is safe long term

Same cobbled together nonsense every president jerks off over when creating "the ___ Doctrine" for their foreign policy - it's whatever shit their sophomoric advisors come up with.

Ivans and Camel jokeys are 100% going to reduce production again on the 4th, though the reduced demand because of the dying German industry won't affect Eurostan more.
>Parking money
Bonds, I don't see how parking it in oil with demand in the shitter while prices rise to high demand levels is a good idea

Fellow oil barons
Do we even sell or just hold?

>> No.56217179

what's it gonna do next?
if go up, then rampant inflation -> need to raise rates more -> everybody dies
if go down, powerful oil people sad?
what's driving the price? is it not within the powers of people who wield power over the powerful oil people to make them make more oil? or will the powerful oil people say "no"?
how scared should i be?

>> No.56217180

the wildcard is with india, brazil, and china right now. Brazil and china reducing rates and trying to push stimulus. So if the USA holds on for around 6 months then oil can coast along 100/bbl before things break apart.

in the end only timing the turns matter when making money trading.

>> No.56217185

just note that they are selling off consistently rn. To me this means investors aren't going to pick bonds because they know the rate is going to keep climbing

The Fed is doing QT, and Japan and China aren't in the mood to buy US Treasuries so Yellen has been boosting issuance of more Notes and Bonds every auction into weak demand.

China has already started its ultra lax monetary policy and it doesn't seem to work out, India and Brazil remains to be seen but I don't see it working out as well, the bricshitter are looking to me as if they all try to scam each other, while the overall demand in the west remains low for imports. My bear radar is tingling and tells me to start accumulating drip
Jamie has alluded to 7% final rate, but last week Powell sounded like they gave up on inflation control out of fear on crashing the party. I mean sure why not wait for china taking the haircut and buying for a discount.

Could you imagine her in bed with you tonight?
I'll bet she'd be a real bitch about whatever economic bullshit she was dealing with today.
You'd reach your arm around her and tell her "it's ok" and then you'd fuck all the problems out of her.

when people are they are selling off bonds, they mean selling longer dated treasuries for shorter ones (bills)? the lingo confuses me.

>> No.56217283

yeah it's a hard sell but you just need some desperation to set in with Evergrande and now Country Garden real estate blowing up. The CCP might do more crazy sh!t. They've already reduced capital gains tax on chinese stocks and they're thinking about letting foreigners own more % of their stocks.

If Japan starts getting anxious with the USDJPY above 150 then maybe that'll stop the pressure in the FX markets and China and Brazil have more breathing room.

Japan is complicated. Ueda is dovish and doesn't seem to be concerned with yen depreciation looking at yesterdays minutes while Suzuki is getting anxious. In the end its Uedas decision
But ccp, Winnie is going crazy, I think they are legit afraid of internal unrest and Vietnam buying US fighting jets maybe looking to expand their territory to the north

as others have said
bad idea
you're thinking enjoy about shorting a commodity where the only difficulty is adequate storage and time to production.
it takes a long time to come up
and takes a lot of lost demand for it to come down.

if another thing like covid happens then yeah sure
