Is investing money into creating a large estate on the coast of Ireland for when I retire, and having large swaths of land handed down through my lineage a good financial decision? My business still makes good money in America so I'll stay here until I retire most likely.

For you? Depends if you want to live in a remote setting like this. For your kids? They'll probably sell it once you die desu, unless ofc they grow up on the property or spend significant amounts of time on it that they look back on with fond memories.

If it's revenue producing and paying for itself via cattle and such (and doesn't require active management from ownership) then maybe it's good for them too.
