In my country (Sweden) it used to be you could deduct 85% of mortgage interest rates against ur income tax. They changed it to 30% in like 1992.

Genuinely did this and got a mortgage. They obviously still wanted all my financial details etc but striking up an immediate rapport and building trust initially meant that the bank was much more willing to be accommodating with any issues which arise and can talk openly about why my credit rating wasn't the every highest it could be etc. Just don't be autistic
