By all rights von Wallenstein ought to be viewed as one of Austria’s greatest heroes but I don’t get the sense that he is.
Likewise, he can’t really be considered any less than Gustavus’ equal as a commander, yet Gustavus has become mythologized as a Hector without Wallenstein being acknowledged as his Achilles.
Lutzen was no Breitenfeld. Wallenstein was the reason for this.
